Not that it will help getting your pictures, music, or videos to work, it is a large update. It removes the old version and installs the new one. It is a 178MB download.

May want to start this one before bedtime or when you know you are not going to be doing anything.

Have fun!

Huh? I just downloaded 8.360 (188MB) now and it took a whole 1 minute and 45 seconds.

I wish it was still just a burning program. I just want a reliable application that burns CDs, DVDs and BDs, Nero Scout, Home, Media Share and the rest can go bye bye. I hate that it wants to be my default media player, picture viewer, and I have to go through MSCONFIG to uncheck all the start up processes that come with it. I may go back to Roxio one of these days.

I've got Nero 8 MediaHome working with my HR20 for streaming movies. I haven't tried photos or music. It appears that version 8.3.6 doesn't have any updates for MediaHome. Version 8.2.8 was the last to update anything related to MediaHome.

From the Nero website re: v8.2.8 (link) ...

New Features:
- Implemented new options (hide offline devices, index now, indexing speed for manually added folders)
- Changed current TV streaming for use with transport streams
- Improved trick mode (pause, fast forward, etc.) while transcoding
- Significantly improved browsing speed of Nero MediaHome
- Implemented support for external subtitle files (*.SRT) with some clients
- Improved send [email protected] behavior to better reflect current playback state
- Improved compatibility with PlayStation® 3 (trick mode support, support for MPEG-2 which significantly improves video quality of transcoded content)

CD Burner XP might just be the app for you. I just downloaded it and it was a very tight, small package that seems to be getting good press.

I found it via Life Hacker.

Now...back to your regularly scheduled Nero thread...sorry for the interruption.

This is great News! Can you tell me what were the rendering settings on Nero Mediahome that you had to use to get the HR20 to stream the movies? Will it stream MP4 or just MP2? What about AVC video? Gosh, I'm just excited to hear that it will work. I've been using a Dlink Media player DSM-520 for the last 3 years and it works pretty well. But I'd like to clean up my cabinet by removing it once the HR20 streams movies from Mediahome. Thanks for any info you can provide.
