I've gotten the letter telling me I'm going to have to replace my security cards in my receivers... The only problem I see is my Sony receivers have the card in the back, not the front. I'm going to have to pull my DirecTiVo out which is going to be a major hassle. Why does Sony stick the card on the back of the unit? Oh well... Its my fault for being anal about cabling. If I had just left it where it was (on top of the TV) rather than stick it in my bookshelf, I wouldn't have this problem. :bang:

I think many Sony receivers and all makes of DirecTivos have the card slot in the back. I've got two fronts and two backs, but I've already been swapped to the series 4 cards as my two RCAs were still running on their original H cards this summer. Accounts with H cards were swapped out already as the H card has 'deorbited.'

Oh, BTW, I also received a letter last week saying my cards would be swapped, plus messages on my receivers. I guess the forgot they already swapped my account.

You know that it is probably a good thing the merger did not go through for a lot of DirectTV customers because of the TVs with the built in DirectTV tuners (reminded me because the access cards are in the back of the TV).

From my days of wiring recording studios, I learned quickly that you have to leave enough of a "service loop" to allow removing any piece of equipment from the front of the rack. That doesn't mean that I do that at home with my equipment though. Do as I say, not as I do.
