It think it speaks more to these low level religious channels willingness to pay D* to carry them and D* not worrying that their viewers will complain that they compress the hell out of them.barracudacx2 said:The addition of this new channel clearly speaks to the caliber of customers still craving more SD programming.
Guys, it's not a matter of "refusing". It takes two to cut a deal, not one. You guys do realize that many times what a company will do is demand extra carriage. In other words, let's say Channel X is something D* wants to put on the platform and the customers want it also. D* has room for Channel X, but that's about it. Well company ABC which owns Channel X says "sure, D* you can take Channel X but in addition you MUST also take Channel Y, Channel Z and Channel L"6tv's;1748469 said:I have to say that I am very, very dissappointed in Directv's refusal to add the channels that many people including myself have been requesting for many many years. They are HRTV, CNN International, BBC World, FashionTV,America One, and FSTV. There even more that they could including Crime and Investigation, iaTV, NBC Universal Sports, SiTV, BlackbeltTv. and many more I'm sure others have requested. DirecTV is focused on it's HD expansion and is ignoring it's millions of SD customers who have been with them for many years and have given them a lot of money as well.
Test channels using an OSD take very little bandwidth in relation to a full motion pictureP Smith said:SR, I hardly see the point of overloading DTV's sats - reading APG tables I would say there are a LOT of _test_ channels. If they're really taking bandwidth, not placeholders.
Mirroring doesn't use any bandwidth at all (or such a small amount to be irrelevant), they're just mirroring a viewer channel using the same original bandwidth.P Smith said:Actually I'm talking about mirrors of real channels transmitting as TEST channels. Would you take a look at Sixto analysis and count tpns load ?
Surprised this isn't on DirecTV. This channel has been on our COX system forever (with previous different names)...jamieh1 said:Directv has been adding very few channels for the SD customers as of late.
Well Directv is adding a new channel soon.

Off-topic, but my wife and I are in the midst of our DS marathon from Netflix.cweave02 said:Last night was the first time I noticed the Chiller Channel - maybe it was only because the programming was House of Dark Shadows (my favorite gothic soap of childhood), but I watched from beginning to end, and it was great. Thanks D*!
Wish SoapNet would do a Dark Shadows marathon - maybe over Halloween?>?
I'm agree when mirrored on same tpn, but not for different.Satelliteracer said:Mirroring doesn't use any bandwidth at all (or such a small amount to be irrelevant), they're just mirroring a viewer channel using the same original bandwidth.
Maybe I'm not understanding your question...my bad if that's the case.
