The only one I'm waiting on is BBC America. It would be great if D* added a couple of 24-hour news channels. There's really nothing worth checking in with, anymore, among the existing channels.

News junkies need a fix. I'd settle for BBC World and Al Jazeera.

There, that should wake up the types who've never actually read/watched either. Stereotypes are wonderful.
Chiller had at one time announced that they would be in HD by sometime in October. But it has been awhile since I heard them advertise that. Their website says it's coming soon. So if I can get Chiller and FNC in HD, I will be a happy camper.
Hey I WANT THAT FISHING CHANNEL.. NOW!!!
I want the Travel Channel, ESPNU and the rest of the premiums for starters
At this point it's all rumors and speculation. Now that the new satellites are up, a lot of the holdup is in the negotiations and getting the content providers to provide the signals properly. When those things are pinned down, new channels will come.
Screw the nationals, give me my locals!!!!!!!

I don't have a problem adding either of these news channels provided we do not waste valuable HD bandwidth for them.

BBC America in HD would be nice but only if they started showing something worth while and not the same garbage over and over and over and over and over again.

Thank you Ed for that enlightening political comment. Al Jazeera is excatly what we need to remove that blindfold that's been covering my eyes by watching CNN and Fox News, and have Al Jazeera "wake me up." That way I can wake up tomorrow morning and realize what a murderous fascist state we are and realize that we are no better than Saudi Arabia and Syria....

Al Jazeera is horrible.
As we seem to know already. Know one has a clue on what or when Directv will add more HD channels.

I'll second that motion, big. Oh, and I'm also in favor of D* dropping that ridiculous policy of making me (us) pay two different HD fees to watch our favorite baseball teams in HD.

By the way: Welcome to DBSTalk, Coumyl.
I think the exclamation "give me my locals!" might be the reason there have been no national HD channels added recently.

DirecTV seems to be focusing on adding HD locals right now.

Really? You mean DirecTV can't do both? If they are adding hundreds of local channels every week they can't fond anybody to flip the switch on Travel Channel HD, ESPNU HD, and FNC HD??
They must be short on employees....

I emphatically agree! :)

An email received a couple days ago from BBC America states basically the same things they've been saying for months:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate your interest
in seeing BBC America in High Definition. Please know that plans to
launch the channel are in the works. However, at this time an exact
launch date is not available. We appreciate your patience and are
working tirelessly to bring you this service in the near future.

We thank you again for your interest and continued support.

Hopefully it will happen one of these days soon.

I too wonder how many of those with negative comments about Al Jazeera have even seen their English news service? I've watched them quite often via the internet and fail to see what all the fuss is about. I've been favorably impressed with their professionalism and objectivity. BBC News, of course, stands above all others and would be a great addition to Directv.

And I especially want all the screen clutter on BBCAHD to be in HD too ;)

hey.. there you go, cater to the less then 30% who have HD while the rest of us get nothing.. why is HD valuable but SD is not? or why would it be "more valuable " then SD? why should we just worry about that 30% when there are 70% WHO DON'T HAVE HD..

that's a great attitude.. make sure that I GET MINE FIRST and then if there is room left over, I guess that you can have yours..

must not be a family man.. some one's who's priorities are not exactly perfect to say the least.
According to the World Fishing Network website, their channel is only available on Verizon Fios and Dish Network right now. No mention of Directv.

So Sad...:crying:

Can't figure out why I'm crying...Read my sig.
