got a nice CSR who was able to add it. She even told me a way to get around the black out games :hurah: so now I'm able to watch the chiefs even though I don't have local abc/nbc/cbc and it was blacked out. Does anyone know how reliable D*s schedule for adding LILs in HD is? Columbia is supposed to get HD channels in the next month so hoping that's true. When the installer got here yesterday I found out my SD locals were on the 72.5 satellite and I couldn't get that without a second dish which I couldn't do.

None of the games are blacked out for me but what is the work around for blacked out games?

apparently I was wrong... the SD version was blacked out and the HD one wasn't? I had gone to the channel that shows 8 games at once then selected the chiefs game and it fullscreened it for me. I just tried goign to the SD version and then the HD version and the HD one isn't blacked out apparently. Can anyone confirm that a blacked out game can be viewed on the channel that shows 8 at once? That's what the CSR told me.

Columbia's not in the local market of any NFL team. There shouldn't ever be an nfl game blacked out there.

I'm halfway between KC and Columbia. Back in the day, folks around here would turn their antennas to pick up Columbia stations to watch the (home)games. The KC stations were blacked out back then, because the (home)games weren't sellouts.

I'm in the KC area... at the rate the chiefs are going this year, I'm afraid home games may soon be blacked out due to ticket non-sellout. :( ...not that they've had a game worth watching this year anyway.

As to the 72.5 dish and your locals, I think you can pretty much count on Directv doing what they say about October. They've been trying to get all locals off of the 72.5 dish.

Local team does not really mean you live in their town its more like the closest teams to you. I live 4 hours from KC and a ways from St. Louis as well but here they think we should see Rams and Chiefs. As if!!!! I can not stand either one of them. That is why I had to have Sunday Ticket even though they dont offer me locals. Its worth it still. If all of my waivers are not granted then I will get an antenna.

No, it means you live in their DMA.

Things may have changed since then. I just remember back in the day (pre-dbs), the guys with antenna rotators would turn them towards columbia when the chiefs were blacked out in kc.

A point i missed in my earlier response was that NFLST blackouts are for more reasons than just home game ticket sales. NFLST channels can be blacked out if one of your local stations is carrying the game.

Doesn't make me much difference. The chiefs are my team... doesn't much look like I'm going to give a **** about football this season :(

Well if the blackouts are by DMA then I will never have a problem. I live in Oklahoma and we have no pro teams. I dont think it works that way though. Can anyone in the Tulsa or Oklahoma City DMA confirm if they have or have not had any games blacked out on NFL Sunday ticket?
