Just got hooked up with an HR34 with one client with Choice Ultimate and the HD extra pack. I've got a few questions. Sorry if these have been answered b/f.

1. Favorites-Is there any way to have multiple favorites and name them. I was able to do that with Dish when I had them over a year ago. The favs also seems to be limited in number of channels allowed.

2. The client-I have "don't display duplicate SD channels" checked but it shows them anyway. The HR34 does not. How do I fix that?

3. I have a 1080p TV. Should I chose 720p or 1080i for best resolution? Or is it really just preference?

4. Do I need a separate login for the iOs app? I can log into the DirecTV site but not the apps.

Thanks in adavance for the answers. I'm excited to have DirecTV now. My local Brighthouse did not have VOD or whole home DVR and only had about 50 HD channels. Big upgrade for me!

1. What do you mean by Favorites? You can create 2 custom channel lists and name them. You can set them up via Menu --> Settings --> Favorite Channels

2. Double check to make sure you have the "Hide SD Duplicates" option selected. When viewing under Menu --> Settings --> Preferences --> Guide HD Channels, make sure you have the correct option selected.

3. In my case, I selected both.

4. What do you mean by a different login for the iOS apps? It will be the same exact login as you use for the DirecTV website to check your account.

Thanks for the reply!

1. Yes, I meant channel lists. That is good to know. Is there a limit to the # of channels in the list?
2. Tried that. It worked then messed up the setting on the HR34. I fixed the HR34 but now client still shows SD duplicates.
3. I did in settings. What about the setting on the box itself? Or does that not matter?
4. Got it worked out. For some reason my email login was all caps on the site so had to try it in all caps on the app and it worked.

There is a button on the front of the HR34 that allows you to set the resolution from 4801, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. It won't actually let you select 1080p.

So you can't make channel lists of your favorite channels? I think I've gotten two different answers on that.

You've received diffferent answers, because you've asked two different sets of questions.
I don't see how I asked two sets of Q's but regardless, can I make a customizable channel list and, if so, is the # of channels in it limited?

You can use the HBOGo app if you subscribe to HBO. Not sure what you are looking for with access to Big Ten or Disney.

Not a big deal to have access to those but I believe you can watch live programming on the apps. Disney Jr. is great for my 1 and 3 year olds. On Brighthouse we had access to Watch ESPN and Big Ten. I can still use my in-law's passwords thought so no big deal.

Thanks for all the help!

Correct. In the iPad app, you can watch Live TV for some channels. Currently, two can be watched when not on your home network. I'm hoping at some point all the channels there can be watched anywhere.

Came up with yet another Q due to my 1-year-old. Can the buttons on the front of the HR34 be disabled? If not, I may have to move it.

I was able to set up a custom channel list.

Just used my Amazon points and got one. Looks like a great product. I have to keep the 3 year old and 1 year old away from the HR34 until it arrives. I'm glad I have free 2-day shipping. I'll put the AM21 I ordered in another location depending on the length of usb cable.

There is also a QuickTune function where you can program nine channels.

Just press the Up arrow directly above your orange SELECT button.

Go to a channel you want to program, press the Up arrow to activate, select which spot you want to store the station in, and then press your green button.
