SkyTRENDS came out with its second quarter state-by-state counts for satellite TV in the August issue of SkyRESEARCH, and found that the dish is now growing in areas where it traditionally hasn't had a lot of luck.

In the highly-cabled New England region, Connecticut saw its satellite TV penetration grow 10.56 percent during the three-month period, topping at around 131,000 customers. New Jersey, which has been the fastest-growing state for the dish this year, saw its satellite TV penetration among households grow 13.37 percent during the second quarter. New Jerseys satellite TV subscription count is near the 500,000 mark, according to SkyTRENDS' state-by-state data.

Anyone have info on the Philly market? I curious to see how well Comcasts refusal to share Sportsnet with satellite is preventing satellite penetration.

I'll be most of the New Jersey growth is north and central Jersey, although I did see a bunch of dishes down the shore last week.

I am seeing DirecTV Plus Dishes popping up all over the place here in Connecticut.
Ditto, same here in WNY. Everytime I go out somewhere, I see more and more D+ dishs.

Its my understanding now, that they are so sure of the merger going through that they don't want to carry any market which DirecTV is already carrying.
I don't think this is the case, since they just added West Palm Beach, a city long carried by DTV. Charlie would be foolish to run the company on the asumption that the merger would happen. He has stated in the past that he is not making any changes on the assupmtion of the merger until the merger it is approved. For the shareholders' sake, he is required to run the company as if the merger will not happen.
