Current system: four H22-100 receivers

This Sunday I have an installation scheduled for:

  1. HMC Receiver
  2. HD Receiver
  3. HD DVR Receiver
  4. HD DVR Receiver
All of our receivers have their own internet and phone connection (hard wired). The dish is on the second floor and a single wire runs to a distribution panel in a second floor closet where there is a four way splitter. One of the receivers on the first floor also has the power inserter

Am I going to run into any problems with my current wiring? I see that the HMC can record 5 shows at one time so I would assume it has 5 tuners. Does the SWM still handle that?

Thanks

The installer will need to replace your dish LNB with a non-SWM version, then add a SWM16 to your setup to handle all of the tuners you'll need. Your current SWM dish can only handle 8 tuners, and you'll have 14 tuners.

This means the installer will need to run four wires from the dish to the SWM16 location.

Ouch, I was afraid of that. Looks like I have some work to do to get ready. So the four lines will run from the dish to the SWM16 - how many lines need to go to the Media Center from the SWM16?

Thanks for the help guys

You'll only need the one line to the HMC (HR34), and since you have ethernet hard wired at the location where it will be installed you plug a single ethernet cable into the HR34 and use the built in DECA capability of the HR34 to provide internet and network access to all the other receivers in your SWM cloud. Your internet access will be enabled through SWM and the hardwired ethernet at each location won't be needed.

You may (depending on the boxes they install) need a DECA adapter that unstacks the satellite signal and ethernet signal from the coax run into separate wires at each location. The installer should handle that and it's llittle more than a diplexer on steroids.
