If any of the mods could pass along or if any DIRECTV folks are reading, here is a good idea for a new feature to the Directv systems.

One thing that is very very irritating.
I wish they would fix the favorites list. Now when Directv adds a channel it does not show in the favorites list, The old Directv recievers from the past did add them.
Alot of folks use FAVs list, I do because I dont want all the non subscribed channels showing.
Another thing, when Directv takes down channels and puts them back up they fall off the fav list.

I now almost several times a week scan thru the channel edit screen, almost each time channels have dropped off, the usual channels are, PPVs, UHD, GMC, DOD channels.

Set the system so that any time a channel is added that it will automatically add the channels to the fav list, then subs can remove them if they dont want them.


Now when Directv adds new channels, some folks that dont monitor DBS forums may not know the channel was added. Directv does not always advertise new channels.


SO FIX THE SOFTWARE SO ALL NEW OR MOVED CHANNELS WILL AUTOMATICALLY ADD TO THE CUSTOM CHANNELS LIST.


And please update the channe logos already!!!

No, thank you...I don't need the Favorites List being muddied with channels I don't want, shopping channels and PPVs. DirecTV DOES need to do a far better job on communicating channel additions, changes and subtractions...but the Favorites list isn't the place for that.

They have a messaging system built into their boxes...they can use that. They can have a channel running 24x7 explaining what's new.

No thanks, I want to be in charge of my custom lists. I have about 70 channels in my FAV and all the HD channels in HD ONLY. I don't want new shopping channels, PPV, added without my intervention. Channel adds and subtracts should be handled in CIG.

As Ken S said, use the "Messages" feature. :up:

Seemed to work fine for me the way TiVo did it (this should in NO WAY be construed as any kind of "bring back TiVo" comment, so let's leave that out of this thread, shall we please?). A message indicating if a channel was dropped, a channel was added or a channel was moved. Seems reasonably simple and the subscriber can then do what they wish with the informaiton.

I understand what the OP is wanting, but I have to agree, let me be the one who controls my favorite lists. DirecTV does amaze me though, any company that offers a new product wants its customers to know about it, with DirecTV you may never know unless you scan the guide on occasion.

I submitted this to the Wish List over a year ago, so it should already be there.

Absolutely. It was a real PITA on the Tivo-based units to have shopping channels and such continually popping back up like weeds in my custom lists. I'd much rather have the problem of missing a new channel for awhile -- and as you and others have noted, there are better ways to announce new channels than using my favorites lists (or putting up a flashy new banner "ad" in program guide).
