I don't know how many people here actually get international programing, I get programing from the Philippines for my wife, dish recently announced that one channel would no longer be available channel 710 Mabuhay channel, and it says that they are working on getting a replacement, does anyone know what channel dish is trying to get? I been a dish costumer since 97 and although direct tv has better channels from the Philippines than Dish we won't switch, but we are hoping dish gets either the Philipino Channel (TFC) or GMA witch currently are available only on Direct Tv.

Not sure of anything Dish is working on but I do agree with you ABS-CBN (The Filipino Channel) and GMA (Pinoy TV) are the most popular channels in the Philippines, so those would be the best channels if Dish could reach a deal with them.

Unfortunately, TFC signed a 10-year exclusive with DirecTV when they got rid of their (TFC's) own sat service. It might be a while before Dish gets either of them.

We used to have Dish + DirecTV for TFC only, but we've let go of DirecTV because my wife can now see most of the shows she follows on YouTube or alternatives. It's just not worth another $40 for two channels.

You are correct! GMAP = GMA Pinoy TV and GMAL = GMA Life TV.

According to the list: http://dishuser.org/dishlist.php on 8/7/08
"Filipino TV channels GMA Pinoy and GMA Life along with radio stations DZBB AM and DWLS FM were uplinked to tp 20 at 118° "

On DirecTV, GMA is tied to The Filipino Channel (ABS-CBN) so the cost is quite high. Maybe on Dish the price will be more reasonable.
