I have been following the threads related to the HR20 for some time now and in December I finally decided to go for it. I went to D* website only to discover that I had to get on a waiting list. So I placed my name on the waiting list and the week before Xmas I get the phone call that they have a HR20 for me. Thats great, so I call the number and they want to charge me $299, but there HD package offer was 4 months free. I asked why the $299 when their website says $199. Their response was that there was nothing they could do and that I should use the website. So....I ordered the HD upgrade on the website for $199, called back and had them match up the reserved box to my order and got them to give me the HD package for the 4 months free. If you ask me that is totally ridiculous, but if everything works out then oh well.
Here is my question: I currently have a standard D* receiver(RCA) model hooked to the HDTV and I want to keep it there to be able to take advantage of the PIP. The new HR20 will have 2 lines installed to it, for a total of 3 lines. I planned for all of this 4 years ago and have modular wall jacks. Can I run the new cables to these modular jacks on the walls and then just run cables from the wall jacks to the HR20. I am worried about signal loss for the HD signals....is that something I should be concerned with. I can just run the cables directly from the multi-switch to the box, just would like to keep it clean and use the modular jacks.
Since I have heard all these stories about horrible installations and I can not be home tomorrow for the installation I am holding my breathe. My wife will be home so I should be okay. I have a list of what they should do and she is relentless when it comes to getting what we are supposed to get, she just doesn't get the technical stuff.
This is what I am expecting:
Morning installation - thanks to this forum
HR20 box
New 5LNB dish
New WB68 multi-switch
2 New lines from the multi-switch to the HR20
Broadband Converter modules installed
HR20 connected to TV with Component Video Cable
HR20 connected to Audio Receiver with Optical Audio Cable(I have this already)
Did I forget anything.
I will post back and let everyone know how the installation goes.
If someone can post back with an answer to my question I would greatly appreciate it.
