Just spoke to a neighbor who works with the sats for dtv.

He says they won't be up and operational until Oct 07 at the earliest.

You should not believe what DirecTV spin doctors are saying. They appear to have no clue as to what is going on outside of where the books are cooked. It doesn't take a lot of digging to figure out that they can't deliver programming on birds that aren't scheduled to launch until after the claimed date.

October seems reasonable given that D11 is currently looking at a June 2007 launch window. I think they are still smarting from the amount of time that elapsed between the launch of Spaceway 2 and when it began delivering DirecTV content to subscribers. Hopefully the hand-off won't take so long with D11.

I've been suggesting an October 2007 time frame since early this year based on D10 going up in April (now it looks like May) and D11 going up in July (now June) coupled with the five month long hand-off of Spaceway 2.

Keep in mind that I have no insider information. My speculation is based entirely on information that I have found using Google.

Five months?? Geez, what the hell are they doing? Are they sending a manned space probe to inspect the satellite in person before they sign off on it? :lol:

Given current launch schedules posted elsewere for these SATs, I'd say "Oct 07 at the earliest" is very reasonable. I'd guess later, but I believe that's a correct statement given the current picture.
