I just received my new HR-20 after having to return my first one after 5 weeks. It had totally locked up, but so far this is working great!! Only second day, so I will take it one day at a time. My question is on my first one, my Bose system showed my HD channels in 5.1, but this one is never in 5.1. Did I hook it wrong? Any suggestions??

I have theLifestyle 48, series 1, and I am using the optical fiber, it shows Dolby 5.1 on HD and PCM on SD.

Did you turn Dolby on in the Audio setup menu on the HR20?

How are the guide updates, and recording the sport package 7XX channels?

So far everything is great! (Fingers crossed!!) This receiver has a 100% better picture than my last HR-20. I just hope she stay stable because I love having the DVR, but I will not put up with this receiver having any problems. It is so unfortunate that *D* doesn't have more HD programming. If they didn't have the Sunday Ticket monopolized I don't think I would stay with them.

It's a minor thing, but I'm glad they made the remote and the buttons slightly larger. Although it would have been even better if they backlit the darn thing.

Like everything else, the backlit remote is an optional upgrade. Thankfully, it isn't too expensive and sometimes very good boys and girls can get a discounted upgrade from their local CSR Santa.

I just think all remotes for all devices should be backlit by default. If it adds an extra $10 to the price or whatever so be it.

When you say upgrade, do you mean you can order a backlit remote direct from D*TV?

It's not a huge deal to me as I'll be programming it to my universal remote, just curious.

The RC32RF remote is backlit (and has RF capability). You can get it from Directv for $25, including FedEx next-day delivery.
