Since the ef update, I have had two instances wherein the HR20 will not power on from the "off" state until the unit is unplugged and restarted. It will not respond to the remote or the front panel button until after the restart. I have not seen anything posted about this issue anywhere else, so I'm wondering if this is widespread, or something odd in my unit.
I have had no other complaints or problems with the HR20 since I got it on 10/31, either with eb or ef updates. Anyone else see this problem?

This is an issue that was first reported with E3 (unable to come out of standby). DirecTV is aware of it.

Thanks, Earl. At least I know it's not ME! Is the "unplug reset" the best way to solve this one? Or is there a better way?

I recommend you don't put it in standby.

Mine froze up just tonight.
I was watching Battlestar Galactica in HD & setting up recordings for tomorrow, I didn't set one time correctly (I wanted it to start 1 min early) & when I went to correct it & hit update recording it gave me the status bar deal but never completed.
The status bar stayed up for 15min & it wouldn't accept any commands from the remote or the front panel until I did a red button reset, then it let me change the recording time.
