I have been a DirecTivo user for years and we finally bit the bullet and had the HR20 installed yesterday. I have been very nervous after reading some of the threads here, but seeing that there were many posters who were happy with the switch, we decided to give it a go.

So far everything is going well, except for one thing. I have set up several season passes and I am having the hardest time figuring out if the episodes PAST THIS WEEK are going to record.

For example, I have set up Scrubs to record tonight...with a season pass for all new episodes only. The guide shows that there are two upcoming episodes, both new, but only tonight's episode shows in my To Do List. Is this normal? Is the unit still updating? I am very confused. I can't seem to find an easy way to tell if an episode is going to be recorded. Not every program is doing this...I would say that it is about 50/50. Any advice on this would be appreciated. TIA!

If you "just" set them up... yes, it will take some time for it to fully populate the to-do list. It processes future entries, during a background process that runs later in the day.

Check on it tomorrow to see if your Scrubs shows up in your todo list.

Yep, it takes a few hours for the To Do list to "find" and populate later episodes beyond the one you used to setup the series link. The one thing that putting the HR20 in standby does is allow the background processes to start right away. So if you just setup a bunch of series links before going to bed you can turn the unit "off" (puts it in standby) and by morning everything should be properly indexed and updated in the To Do list. I typically don't do this myself since we only watch TV in the evening so it's got all night and all day to index stuff.

Would the above explanations be the reason why the following happened to me:

1 - installed my HR20, updated software, activated OTA tuner
2 - a few hours later after the guide began populating enough, I began searching for shows I wanted to record as Series Links
3 - I found the 8:00 pm showing of "Big Day" on my local MPEG4 ABC, selected the show and pressed record twice. I got the SL record icon.
4 - Later when I checked my To Do list, the 8:30 showing of "Big Day" on that same night was not showing a Record icon even though its a new episode, on the same channel, on the same night as the episode I used to set up the SL, and the episode was in the guide at the time I set up the SL
5 - I decided to set the 8:30 pm showing as a Record Once, for fear that Series Links will not recognize episodes that air at any time other than the exact time that the original episode used to establish the SL was set to air (8:00 pm in this case)
