New HR34/"All Movies"

Well my new HR34 has been activated and turned on for like 24hrs now but when i go to the "search and browse" area then to "all movies" it's still giving me the "all movies is currently updating. Please check back in an hour". I've checked that like 5 times in the past 24hrs and it keeps giving that message.

I've activated new equipment before and it's never taken longer than 12-15hrs for the all movies section to get populated.

Perform 2 menu reboots within 30 minutes. That will flush your guide data and re-download/rebuild it. This has worked for others.
I noticed a couple of times when i try to check my signal strength it asks me if i am sure b/c it will interrupt a download from DTV and it's the name of a movie. Is it possible it's still downloading stuff for that area?

Last time i checked around 8pm last nite it gave that message and said it was downloading from DTV Do-Deca-Penathalon. Just a few minutes ago it said Tower heist when i tried to check the signal strengths. I of course chose not to interrupt it. So it seems like it's getting further down in the alphabet so maybe i should give it another 12hrs?
It's definitely downloading in the background. You just need to be more patient.
I just called in to DTV HR34 tech support and a nice guy named Bill said this is a known issue at the moment with the HR34's b/c they have been doing Beta downloads (for HR34 fixes/issues) for the last couple of days via the same satellite that populates the "all movies" section and i should give it another 24hrs.

Just in case if it doesnt resolve the issue he gave me the number to the case management dept (800-442-1635) and gave me a PIN to give them so they could pull up his notes.
Just be patient for a day or 2.
Was this resolved? I just passed 24 hours on my HR34 with the same issue.

What do you see when you press the menu button? DO you have MY Directv and posters for shows? Or does it say check back latter? If it says check back latter, just do a simple menu restart.

How do you do a menu restart? Sorry since I just started back with direct I'm not familiar with their receivers.

Press menu. Go to settings and help and then select settings. On the settings screen, at the bottom of the menu items is reset. Chose restart receiver, the top option. Do not chose either of the other two, you'd lose stuff...

I have a feeling that everything will be fine after that and you giving it a few hours, up to 24 actually for all movies.

If you do that and don't see posters (even the generic ones) on the my directv screen after about four hours then I would do the rest that I just said again, and then as soon as its back up, do it a second time. That would flush all guide data and that sometimes helps as well.
