I am having my system installed next week. Now I only have one coax coming into house(one hole in wall) for my current cable setup. Now with the HD DVR I know you need two lines coming in from the dish, but what about when the coax is indoors running to receiver? Can they use one single wall outlet? Do they split the line and run two coax to the receiver? My wife does not want any other holes drilled "anywhere"(her words).
Also Would they charge me extra to run another line from the dish to the basement for future use? I will not be getting another receiver just yet.

unless your using a SWM setup you need 2 separate lines for each dvr. you can use single outlet, just drill a hole in it and place a barrel connector in it or replace it with a dual connector plate.

my understanding of the swm situation is that it all depends on your location. as far as running 2 lines I believe they have too.

A standard install includes running a second line to a DVR, but it is also limited to running that line through an outside wall, or in some cases, through an attic or basement and through the ceiling or floor. It does NOT include wall fishes (running the cable down the inside of a wall), and there could be other custom charges associated with making the cable hidden ("hidden" isn't standard or free).

Anyway, it is nearly impossible to tell you anything for sure about your install without being there and seeing exactly where the cable would have to go, but it is probably possible to do, but likely to result in some custom charges.

And, no, DirecTV does not pay for any "future expansion". If you want that, you'll have to pay the installer to do that yourself. Or, wait until you actually get that additional receiver and have the installer do it then (but there is usually an installation charge for additional receivers; it's cheaper to get what you need up-front).

Appreciate the info. I guess it could depend on the installer too. I already have coax running into basement via a splitter, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask the installer if he could do so. They would not be required to fish any coax inside walls. Simply run from dish, through existing opening on outside of home(where cable coax is now) and then into basement.
Another FYI, my original order was for a HD receiver. In lieu, of new promotion(HD DVR free) I changed the order, but subcontractor says install date will change if equipment(work order) changes I've already waited 3 weeks. That sucks.

Well I just got some great news regarding my install. I called DTV this morning and have successfully changed my original order from Free HD receiver to HD DVR receiver FREE. Better yet, they moved my install up from 10/15 to 10/14. So next Tuesday, I can start enjoying my new DTV and HD DVR receiver.

I also have confirmed through DTV that I will be getting a SWM dish with only one line needed for HD DVR. Nice. Now I just pray the local installer brings the right equipment.

Orders can take up to 24 hours to show modifications but your installation date should have already moved.

Well the installer arrived this morning. Very courteous. I will not be getting a SWMdish. Slimline 5lnb will be installed. Also, I must have lucked out, the installer had a HR22-100 in the truck. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the rest of install goes smoothly. Tech said he's been installing dishes(DTV) for 3 years. Also before that he worked as an installer for various cable co. since 1998. He seems very competent.

Well I am happy to say that my install went very smoothly without any problems. The tech happened to have an HR22 -100 in the truck, so I lucked out in that respect. Installer was very competent, courteous and knowledgable. On the initial setup the HR22 did lock up( I thought, UH OH!). He reset the receiver and all was well. I have been using my system for a little over a week now and I have had no problems with the HR22. No missed recordings, etc. I am getting signal levels over 90 on nearly all transponders. So far, Very happy.
