Don't get all excited for HD Locals. I've had them for over a couple months now and am disappointed. I for one hate MPEG-4. I didn't find out until recently that HD Locals are all compressed MPEG-4 signals. The problem I'm having is not getting Dolby Digital through my ABC HD local. I know I get it in this area (Sacramento, Ca- affiliate) because I've picked it up through my OTA antenna many times. Also I don't get FOX HD local because DirecTV claims they don't offer the channel (meaning my KTXL Sacramento affiliate)

. I don't know who to believe. I've gone through 4 antennas and none seem to pick up FOX HD without constant 'glitching'. When I called to complain to DirecTV about not getting FOX HD, they said quote: "I want to assure you, we here at DirecTV are very good friends with FOX"
I've sent waiver requests numerous times for channel 89 (Los Angeles FOX HD local) and everytime I've got denied. So basically I have no way of getting FOX HD local here. I'm especially pissed cause I'm missing the MLB playoffs. Let me tell you from experience that MPEG-2 is much more superior than MPEG-4. I do get channels 81 (Los Angeles CBS HD local) and 83 (Los Angeles NBC local) and they are much better quality (since they're MPEG-2) than my MPEG-4 driven locals.
