Seems I disconnected my old HR10-250 Directv Tivo and have began getting a $7/mo monthly dvr service charge due to that. Talked to a CSR about getting it removed from my account but she held firm. I asked to speak with retention and she said they didn't have a retention department. I am currently gettiing the $10/mo off for 2 years on the HD service. I have the Premier programming package and am a 16 year customer.

Has anyone had any luck with this situation?

Thanks

You dont have a DVR, and are getting a DVR charge? If you do have a DVR, the only way you wont have to pay the DVR charge is if you bought the Tivo Lifetime DVR for your old HR10-250, if that was even offered.

BTW, to reach retention, you call the main number, and answer CANCEL to the first two automated prompts.

I'm not sure what you're talking about so I guess not. I had something where that receiver caused me to not be charged for a DVR fee regardless of the number of DVRs I had. I thought it was because I had always had Premier as my programming package but that's not what she said.

Looking at my last statement it says "Directv DVR Service $7.00/mo incl Base Pkg $0.00"

I have the same thing on my statement, and it's because I have a legacy package. These packages included DVR, HD, etc in the package price; the newer packages separate the charges. I'd check to see if your programming package was changed.

Is there something about having a "primary" receiver or your "main" receiver on your account that has the legacy features w/no charge? I thought I read something about that somewhere on this forum.

I also would not be surprised if the CRS removed your package and then added it back on which caused you to lose the "included with base package no charge" legacy.

I have had this happen several times and I can not think of a time yet that I did not have to ask to speak with a supervisor to get fixed. The CSR's first response will be that lifetime contracts purchased through Tivo were not transferable. I would then explain (again) that I purchased the lifetime service through DirecTV. After a few more exchanges I would end up speaking with a supervisor who would take the effort to review the account and see the notes that I have lifetime DVR service and turn it back on.
A few years back, my parents discovered they were wrongly being charged DVR fee's for close to 3 years and that took a number fo calls & someone high up in the food chain get that corrected and properly credited.

I've noticed they're using new terminology on their billing statements (Advanced Receiver-DVR-Charge, Advanced Receiver-HD-Charge, and Primary TV-Charge). Why the need? A rose by any other name is still a rose.

To hide certain charges!! (like whole-home)

Their newest advertisements make no mention of the HD fee ($10) but mysteriously offer a $10 credit for months 13-24 for new customers!

Everybody knows what a DVR is...but what's an "advanced receiver"? Maybe my old Hughes SD box is a "disadvantaged receiver"??? ;)

I bet thats it. If the TiVo was the primary receiver and they had to make a new one the primary then they had to assign him back to the base package he has and my guess is thats how he lost it.
