....well I can tell you...here in Virginia Beach (largest ciyty in VA) we had the Skins/RAMS game on local FOX as well as NFLST SF (HD). The ST (SD) was blacked out but not the SF (HD).bonscott87 said:The smaller your market the better chance they aren't. .
The local channels want you to spend your money on their sponsors.ansky said:I don't understand the issue. If the game is being shown on a local affiliate then what difference does it make if you get it on the NFLST channel?
Local affiliates want you to watch their commercials, not the national feed commercials. Local affiliates are the ones that enforce the blackouts of the games they show. DirecTV wouldn't do any blackouts if they could.ansky said:I don't understand the issue. That may be but your market is only #43 in the country and is not an NFL "home" market. Thus you are in a "smaller" market.VaJim said:....well I can tell you...here in Virginia Beach (largest ciyty in VA) we had the Skins/RAMS game on local FOX as well as NFLST SF (HD). the hd dvr that I just had installed this week won't let you tape games on the st channel if they are on your local channel. The local stations pretty much know by wednesday or thursday what games they are carrying and your local team will never be on st, always on your local station.EKrimmer said:I'm not sure either. I can only think it affect folks that pre-schedule recordings and don't check the locals for conflicts.
That happened to me once already this year. Should have known better. My HR20-700 actually searched for the local channel on it's own when it started to record the blacked out channel, and found the local channel, although it didn't record the game in it's entirety because of the guide data difference in time.EKrimmer said:I'm not sure either. That's how it is here in Harrisburg, PA too.EKrimmer said:LA Market here - if a game is on local CBS or FOX then it is blacked out on ST. SF or no SF
....gotta love being a large 'small' maket. I just thought our local FOX didn't know about SF....bonscott87 said:Thus you are in a "smaller" market.
I've always said it's this simple: All SD games are blacked out. .
LOL. Yea, my market is the West Michigan market (Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo) which is #39 but I'd hardly say we're "large". But our market is a bit unique in that we have 4 100K+ citites (GR being over half million) and tons and tons of smaller towns of 20K+. So it all adds up quickly over the whole area. But I can drive 10 miles in any direction and be in the middle of miles and miles of corn.VaJim said:....gotta love being a large 'small' maket. that cant be right....the top 10 markets have 29.447% of the total tv households....that cant equal 70% of the total population.bonscott87 said:One must remember that the top 10 markets have something like 70% of the population of the country.
