Why are the HD channels listed as -1 and not listed with same channel number as a normal simulcast HD channel? I ask since this causes both channels to show up in guide even when hide SD duplicates is turned on. Anyone know if this going to change next week?

This is because if someone has ST but no Superfan and has hide sd duplicates on, then they can still see the sd channels and this is most likely the way it will stay all season.
That makes sense I suppose. However why not leave it the way it was last year with the HD channels being separate from the SD so if you are channel surfing you don't have to mix and mingle.

I guess since they are less of us with Superfan and it is easier to inconvience us rather than the rest of the people with hide dup on. However still annoying.

Uncheck the -1 channels so you don't see them. There aren't that many. Problem solved.

I've always wondered why the Strikezone channel and game mix channel for MLB EI used the -1 for HD, The explaination make sence.

I'd have to question how many people have H20 series or high recievers without superfan though

Custom favorite list with just the game channels and the blue button mini guide are your friend. :)
:righton: I've used a custom favorite list for Sunday Ticket every year. I put all the ST channels plus my local CBS and FOX affiliates in that list. Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern), I switch to that list and use it until the afternoon games are over. I like switching between games and that's the easiest and fastest method I've found.

i think -1 are temporary GAME ONLY channels.
that why some of the RSN's are 6xx-1 cause only the games are HD its not a 24/7 HD network.

they started this with the NBA MP4 games last year all HD games were 7xx-1
same with NHL
then with MLB EI 2008 and now NFL ST 08

Yep, me too. I remember doing it on my old ancient Hughes E86. :D

I print out the list of games provided here and figure out which games my locals are one. Then I edit the NFL favorite list to include my locals, Mix, RZC and the ST channels other then the games that are on my locals. I don't include afternoon games. That way I have pure games and can easily use channel up/channel down and always go to a game.

Then the afternoon games come and I edit the favorite list again, remove all early game channels including the local that doesn't have the double header and add in the afternoon game channels only. This is where I really love the game still going while I'm doing all this.

Heck, back a few years ago I used to program my old MX-500 for NFL every Sunday, adding a couple favorite pages for each set of games so all i had to do was press the button labeled "Bears" to go to the Bears game.

Yes, I'm an NFL geek. :)

Custom lists are only useful if you are giong from channel to channel to channel, or, if you use a guide (big or mini). But, going from 705-1 to 709-1 is several extra buttons. Or, my lcoal Fox is Channel 28, and from there to 705-1 like I had to do yesterday, requires several guide pages, or, the two extra buttons. I think it's just a nuisance, it was so much better last year when they were on seperate channels altogether. Ditto on the RSNs, I hate the -1 suffix.

THe problem here is, that's not the way locals work. My lcoal HD is the same number as the SD, and hide SD duplicates takes care of that. I don't understand the discrepancy here.

Hey, it can't all work for everyone. I use the blue button mini guide *a lot* during ST. Also will pull up the full guide from time to time and usually just one or two page up/dn will almost cycle the guide around back on itself. But hey, not everyone watches the games the same way.

It's already been posted a couple times why.
Say you have Sunday Ticket but you don't get Superfan (thus no HD games). You have hide SD duplicates on. Thus the SD games are hidden and you only see the HD games (which you can't get). Thus you'd need to show SD duplicates to actually get the SD games in your guide to be able to watch. This is the problem.
So by doing the -1 channels for HD this solves that problem since hiding SD duplicates will not hide the SD games since the HD games are not the same channel number.

If you use OTA, then yes locals do work that way.

To watch KAKE off-air, it's 10-1 on the remote.

Yeah, I understand, it's as much preference as anything, but having seperate channels altogether (like last year) would satisfy every taste, IMHO.

It's not the end of the world. It's not like I'm not going to watch because of it. I'm not going to watch because my team has already given up. :(
