When I ordered DIRECTV, I was supposed to get a free Cinema Connection Kit. When the installer came, he never installed any connection kit and said I just have to hook up my phone line.

I basically forgot that I had a free connection kit and only thought about it when I tried the DIRECTV App on my iPad-"Wheres my connection kit?!" It's $30 on there website so I gave D* a call.

Aparently it was deleted off of the work order? Anybody else have this issue? I don't really care, not that big of a deal...

Just kind of annoying I was supposed to get one for free, now if I want one I have to pay..The installer didn't leave the manuals or the extra wires and stuff either

Unfortunately, if it's missing from the work order, you may be out of luck. I would try calling back up again and seeing what they can do about getting your a CCK so you can connect to the Internet and use the iPad app. If that doesn't work, you can try sending an e-mail to Ellen Filipiak, the VP of Customer Service. Her office is pretty good in getting back in touch with you to help you resolve your issue.

DirecTv is green(saving the world one scrap of paper at a time), "installer delivered" boxes dont come with manuals extra wires and other stuff. Just a power cord and packing materials. The manual is available at Directv.com, an extra cord or two can be had if you ask the tech while he's there. We don't install CCK's if you don't have a router or active internet connection.

While not having a router would make the point of installing a CCK moot, I don't see how not having an active Internet connection is an issue. If I want to just have access to the receivers to DirecTV2PC and the iPad app, I should be able to have a CCK installed.

I know that DirecTV2PC and the iPad app require a router. I was referring to the fact that you can have a router and not necessarily have an active Internet connection (for lack one or one that is not currently working). In that case, you can still have a CCK installed and use DirecTV2PC and the iPad app.

Snap! My bad cuz. I can't install a CCK without an 88-xxx. Which requires an active connection and router.

Thanks for the replys. Couldn't they have installed the cck and left it even if there was no active connection? Or at least left it and I could install it?

I don't understand the "green installer", I saw the box with papers and extra wires...he threw the wires back in. And my brother and a friend got it installed; boxes were left behind.

NO if you order DTV and do NOT have internet service active with a router you will NOT get a CCK. There are NO what ifs, how comes, or anything else the answer is no 100% of the time.

The "green" is correct now all receivers come with plastic wrap and styrofoam the receiver and power cord you then are provided the cables and remotes needed to get the connection to your tv NO extras.

EDIT there is also a piece of paper telling you about safety and care of the receiver and that if you want the manual go to direct.com

we have to delete it + comment as (no broadband available/deca) so you can get it as a upgrade later out of my office

but yes if there is no internet available and we cant get a 88 confirmation code, we cant install a cck/cck-w

99% of the IRD's are now coming with nothing but an IRD and a power cord. there are some older, back stock IRD's flushing out of the system with books still in them. They are also flushing out a very small stock of D12's that are retail packaging with a phone cable and a set of RCA cables in them.

if An installer leaves a cck without a confirmation code then they get a charge back. If an installer does not install a cck then the customer can get an imediate upgrade in the form of a wcck for free and it is self install or pay to have a tech come out and install a cck. This is dtv policy as of feb 1. The boxes no longer come with all the wires or remotes however the tech is given them seperately to install when they arrive. No one should be shorted all the equipment or cables at install This is done to save cost and wasted cables and remotes.

1- cck - they cost dtv money, if you don't have internet at the time of the install they will not be installed because the installer WILL be charged back for it not responding. You can call DTV and request a one and the will usually mail a wireless one for no charge

2- dish location - should be discussed (and signed of on) with your installer before you let him mount a dish to your house. I know if it was my house I'd be asking WHERE its gonna be.

3- cost- things cost money with every company. we give you x free so you will pay for y, thats not a directv thing, thats a business thing.

I recently got DirecTV installed after years of wanting to try it out. Needless to say, absolutely love it, and I doubt any cable company will ever see my business again. However, I too did not get the Cinema Connection Kit, when the installer showed up I had an active internet connection, but it was quite slow, the local Internet company was working on getting it fixed, but it wasn't when he was there.

Because of that, he did even attempt to install it. I wasn't too happy about that, but he told me I could order the kit myself online, which I did that night. I just received it today and found out it is the "wireless" one. Is there any conceivable difference why I should have one or the other? I have a Wireless Router and the Whole Home DVR. Personally I prefer things to be "Wired," as good as Wireless technologies have got, I still hardwire things like my AppleTV and Xbox. What is the fundamental difference and can I hook the kit up to any box or must it be the HD DVR?

It will work wired or wireless if you have the skills and knowledge. There should be instructions in the box for either way. With any receiver is fine. Once its online you can use any HD receiver on the network to set it up.

There are NO instructions for the CCK in the box. Neither are there any in the IRD boxes. You should NOT get a box for the H25s, they come in a multipack now. HDMI cables are separate, they do not come in the boxes.
