No new National HD on D-11

I talked to Robert Mercer last week and he told me that we won't see any more new national HD channels on D-11 because they are concentrating on locals. We will have to wait til next year when D-12 is lit to see new ones!

That can't be possible! I'm having him over for dinner this Thursday night and I'll be sure to ask him again myself..

Who is Robert Mercer?
I dont think D* will go a year without any new national HD channels, especially when other providers have channels in HD that D* dosen't. Charter cable just added AMC in HD for Pete's sake. If D* doesnt have this channel and Charter does I will be shocked.
I'm not buying the argument unless DIRECTV has tasked their carriage negotiation team on LIL exclusively.

Adding national HD channels would seem to be little more than striking a carriage agreement. The fact that they're not carrying channels that they claimed to have carriage agreements (or pending agreements) with some time ago suggests there's more to it that Mr. Mercer is letting on.

Naw that was Bobby get your names straight young man.
I just wish someone, somewhere would let on to the plan. This is BS, drop some PPV's and add some nationals.
Oh, so some guy made a non-public statement to some other guy that contradicts the public statements DirecTV has made about their plans. Cool.

I thought the ppv were placeholders for some national channels. Do they have one person doing contractual negotiations for lil's and national? If they really wanted to go full steam ahead with national hd they would.

I think we would all agree that pq would be priority over quantity.
Out the 162 PPV channels we have not, many were to be placeholders for national.

OK, they've been tested, and there is plenty of national HD to add. Whats the problem?

These forums will be like the Dish forums and SciFi if D* doesnt add travel and espnu soon.
If this turns out to be true, I guess I'll need to check out Dish after football season.

With no HD LILs (mine's not even on the list) and no new HD nationals there will be no reason to stay with Directv. Beside that Sunday Ticket is getting too expensive anyway and that's the main reason I came to Directv in the first place.

He's graced our presence for over two years. Welcomes aren't necessary. We should expect his next post in about 11 months...just in time for D12 to be lit up and we'll see he was right. :):hurah:

I can't say I'd blame you - locals are a necessary part of most people's TV service and if you're not willing/able to go OTA, you need to be with a provider that can get you what you want.
