No signal 103(c) odds

Hi

Weird issue started this weekend. I am getting 0 signal strength on only the ODD transponders and only on 103(c). Evens on 103(c) are all strong. All other even/odd sats/transponders are strong as they have always been. Same issue is seen on all HR20/HR21s in the house.

We use a WB616 multi-switch. Could the multi-switch have gone bad where it only affects the odds on a single sat? :(

Thanks for any advice!

Its the multiswitch or an LNB failure. Get a tech onsite right away. Please. Take it from me as a gift.

Understood. I have an appt setup for this Saturday. :dozey:
It could also be as simple as a connector issue. Check the WB616 dish-side connector marked "13V + 22kHz" for looseness/corrosion. The connector on the other end of that cable at the LNB would then need checking, too, but you'd probably want to leave that for the service tech.....

The multi-switch is inside the house and relatively new so I suspect the problem is with the LNB. Ill let the service tech climb up there to check things out.
Great! Please let us know the resolution of your problem on Saturday.
When the DTV technician came out, the problem had already "fixed" itself a couple days before. He still went on the roof to make sure everything was tight.

Sure enough, the same problem reappeared a couple days later. So DTV set up another appt this past Saturday and replaced the multiswitch. The problem went away.

The issue now seems to be weak 103 signals. Other sats are in the 90s, so the dish is probably aligned correctly.

Is there anybody else in the Atlanta area that can tell me your 103 signal strengths?
Which 103's? Your 103(s) signal strengths are supposed to be all over the lot. They are local spot beams. Your 103(c)'s can be low and still have signals in the 90's on 101. That would most likely be an alignment problem.

Why don't you post your 101, 99(c), and 103(c) signals, if you have further questions about this. These numbers tell a lot about what's going on with your alignment. Your 99(c)'s and 103(c)'s should be mostly all in the 90's. Certain 101 tp's are also spot beams and can reasonably be expected to have low numbers. (4, 12, 18, 20, 26 and 28)

Well your dish is somewhat out of alignment. You want to have them come back or get a half-inch wrench and a helper and fix it yourself?
Well yesterday Noticed that 292 and 501 were not working. kept getting a 771 on sat 2.

Called DTV and sure enough the 103c odd wasnt working correctly. (According to test channel 480. The phone rep had me unplug the b band converters and swich the coax. still didnt work.

after a couple of reboots, it still didnt work. now i've got a permanent "Acquiring data" box on the screen during regular viewing.

Tech is coming out on sunday to resolve it. Funny thing is, my old Hr10-250 in the other room works just fine on these two channels. she said they came off a different sat for that unit.

I'll try to remember to post back on my results

You got a CSR who actually knew what she was talking about. Those two channels on your HR20 come from DirecTV11 (99(c)), and on your HR10 they come from 101 and 110.

Please post your signal strengths for the two national HD satellites:

Yea, she was good. she didnt sound like she was reading from a script. as soon as i told her what was going on she had me go to the test channels.

I'll try to post up my signals strengths tonight
I have had similar problems with 103 but on the even's. Started around 8/1, suspected alignment issue with 103 and premature rain fade. We have had a lot of rain in VT this summer. Called for service on 8/4. Tech dispatched for 8/11. He could not fix problem, had me call D* and request an upgrade from my sidecar to the new slimline. BUT, he could not stay and fix it he was too busy that day... Anyhow another tech was dispatched for 8/17. I now have a new slimline dish, new cable to the WB68 and a new WB68 !

Last night it rained, and 103 channels(TNTHD, NESNHD were the ones I checked) rain faded.... I hope that will not be the nature of these new satellites... Both tech's did tell me that they dont have the proper meters to peak the new satellites.
After about 5 days of having the new multiswitch installed, my odd transponders on the other satellites went to 0 (103(c) is mostly fine this time). DTV tech coming again this Saturday (3rd in a row) to replace the dish with a Slimline.

Now with the new Slimline dish, all signals are strong and steady. The tech said he did see some water corrosion the wire connectors. He wasnt sure if that might have been the cause of the issues though.

Well the tech came out today and replaced one of the b-band converters and then he checked out the LNB, and replaced that as well. all channels lookin good.

You're still a little out-of-alignment, but let's see if the BBC and LNB fixed your problem with CH's 292 and 501. :)

Both channels are workin fine now. He said everything looked good on the roof.

What are you seeing in the stats that tells you I still have alignment issues?
