HR20-700 Receiver. Long story short. Problem started with "Acquiring Guide Data" Did a Red Button Reboot as suggested now I have no programming. I was told by CSR to swap it out with my other Hr20 Receiver (which was working) same problem occurred. Rehooked working receiver and now IT doesn't work.
Both Receivers are stuck at "Acquiring Guide Data". ERROR 772. Signal test appears like this.
Dish Type Ka 5 LNB
Tuner 1 OK
Tuner 2 OK
Satellite 101 FAILED
Satellite 110 OK
Satellite 119 OK
Satellite 103 (c) OK

Any Suggestions? Tech can't come out till the 25TH. My other thread on this kinda died.

Thanks, Jimmy

Do you have a multiswitch between the dish and the receivers? Small gray box with 4 lines coming from the dish and more lines going to the receivers?

If so, have you tried bypassing the switch as houskamp suggested in your other thread? That is a huge diagnostic test.

Can you bring up the satellite meters to test the signal strengths? I wonder if you have a bad cable between the switch and the dish so your failing on 101°

Or if the recent rain (sprinkles, but moisture nonetheless) might have leaked in somewhere causing problems.

Cheers,
Tom

Kinda doubtful that all your cables went bad simultaneously. Most likely you have a bad multi-switch, if you indeed have one, or a bad LNB. There is the possibility if you have a multi-switch that there's a loose/corroded connector on the 13V or 18V (no 22 kHz tone) inputs to the multi-switch from the dish or at the connectors from those lines at the LNB.

If I get really exasperated with trying to isolate a problem like this, sometimes the easiest thing to do is disconnect all the cables from the LNB and temporarily hook up a run of crummy, store-bought cable of the appropriate length straight from the LNB to a receiver and reboot. Since you have two receivers you can test that way, that will definitely answer the LNB question. If you're still not working, there's a problem with the 101 section of your LNB. Of course, you have to be able to have safe access to your LNB to do that. And you'd have to wait until tomorrow to get a new LNB in any event.

You may want to unplug your receivers and then try unhooking all of the cables going into and out of the multiswitch and then rehook them back up to make sure they are all seated..

When you do this, you may even want to "swap" the cables, ie hook the cable that was going to the 13 into the 18 and vice versa, same for the 22 and 44 (they are all marked on the multiswitch box).

"Swapping" the cables (as described above) cured both multiswitch issues I have had in the past.

I do have a multiswitch. I'll give these suggestions a try. Do you agree this is a wiring, dish, multiswitch problem and not the receivers? I do have 2 SD Tivo receivers that are still receiving a signal.....Thanks

If you've got two other receivers that are getting a good 101° signal, do some cable swapping or move the units to those locations.

And a signal map can tell us if only odd transponders are out or evens. That would be telling.

The Multiswitch is relatively new, no corrosion on any of the cables at the switch or at the dish.

Looks like only ODD transponders are out on Satellite 101. All others test fine.
While it may have no impact...have you tried reversing the cable connections and attached BBC connectors from one tuner to the other, to see if the problem moves with the tuner?

After running the test with satellite 101 failing I receive this message:

The receiver has detected an error while confirming satellite dish setup:
- your dish type is set to 5 LNB Multi-sat, but the receiver detected 3 satellites.
Please fix this error to be sure you receive all channels properly. See your satellite dish installation manual for assistance.

Are you saying those 101 odds are out on the SD Tivo receivers? Completely remove and inspect the connector on the dish line marked "13V" on the multi-switch. Look inside the cap to make sure there's no small piece of shield shorting out the connector. Re-tighten until snug with a 7/16" wrench and check the 101's again.

If you still have no 101 odds, bypass the multi-switch altogether by connecting the HR's antenna lines directly to two of the four dish lines with a couple of double-female "barrel" adapters.
