Greetings,

I am having some issues with certain channels not coming in. I don't know if it's alignment ( I don't believe it to have changed) or hardware.. SWM newer HDdvr.

One example is Disney HD (290). Channel no longer comes in, says "searching for signal on Satellite in 2...(771). Some quick research leads me to believe this channel is on satellite 103ca transp 9. if that is correct I see the following in signal strengths for that satellite (btw disney std def comes in fine)

When I look at any of the other satellites, I see signal on most if not all the transponders.

I did a full pwerdown of all recievers and swm, but still same issue.

Post 99c and 103cb signals as well.
From the looks of those signals, your alignment is WAY off.

Any pointers on aligning? or guides?

You will need someone at the TV with a phone, you will need a cell phone at the dish. Put the receiver on ONE of the transponders (not the whole satellite screen) and note the level.

Make sure the dish is tight on the pole/mast and not loose.

Loosen the lock down nuts on the dish plate, turn the nut with the numbers on it (the lower one) about 1/2 turn. If the signal goes down, turn it back, and go a 1/2 turn the other way. Keep doing this until the signal is at the max. There will be a slight delay between turning it and it showing up on the meter.

Once you get that one (az) locking in, tighten the bolts back up, and loosen the lock nuts for elevation (upper nut with numbers), and do the same proceedure.

Use SMALL and SLOW adjustments, so you dont lose the signal completely.

Note: Dont loosen the nut holding the bolt attacted to the numbered nut, or the dish will drop down. Also good to mark all the current adjustments before starting so you can go back (with a sharpie).

Great, thanks for the info. To be clear, I need to look at one of the transponders on the 103ca satellite? Could I degrade signal on a different satellite by optimizing on this one?

I have adjusted a dish before, just never this model before, so hopefully won't be too hard.

It doesnt really matter which one you use (99c, or one of the 103c's). If your mast is plumb, you should not degrade one by adjusting the other. They should all come up at once.

You are probably only about 1/2 turn off on one of those nuts. Its VERY narrow, so a small adjustment will make a big difference.

best to point with 101 trans 1 and 2, 99c trans 1 and 2 and, 103cb trans 1 and 2.....if those are good then you are golden

Thanks for all the reply's. Indeed a minor adjustment of alignment (1/2 turn rotation, couple turns of tilt) and I am back in business...
