No sound coming from front speakers

I have a ViP612 receiver and it is hooked up to a 5.1 Onkyo audio receiver. 99% of the time I have no issues, but on occasion I encounter a problem I don't know how to correct. For instance, tonight I'm trying to watch the college football game on the HD ABC local channel. My receiver says the audio feed is Dolby Digital, however the only speakers emitting any sound are the rear channels. Switching to another channel with Dolby Digital and they revert to normal with the center channel producing most of the sound. Even switching to the SD ABC channel corrects this, but of course it's not in Dolby Digital anymore.

Anyone else have this issue?

Just wondering is the ABC HD channel broadcasting in DOLBY 2.0 or full DOLBY 5.1? You will notice a difference between the two.
Sounds like the station has a DD encoder that is a problem or they are having a problem w/ the encoding coming from ABC. Only thing to do is contact the station and find out from the engineering staff if they know of the problem.
Also, if the source is DD 2.0 and you have front and rear speaker connections reversed, you will have this problem.

Run the test on the Onkyo to verify your speaker connections are correct.

It's been a long time since I've had this problem but it was always the local station's fault - somebody forgot to flip the switch. It would happen on my OTA broadcast with antenna also so it was not Dish.
I've noticed several times over the last couple of weeks something fishy with the DD feeds, on Disney the other day, there weren't sending the center channel, so you got the music and background noise, but no singing....I don't know if it's a dish prob. or the programming originator problem. I've seen it on a few channels.

Yikes, I can't believe someone happens to forget to flip the switch this often. I'm watching the USC vs. Ohio State game right now on ABC and the sound is screwed up again. ABC needs to get their act together.
