Hurricane Gustav misaligned our dish last week. Yesterday, a technician came out and re-aligned our dish. Wife said he was very friendly and professional. I thought I checked all of the TV's last night and thought they were all working right, but now I'm not sure and she isn't sure if she did either.

Come home today to find that our main TV (in the media room) doesn't have any sound. I double checked the HDMI cable from the HR20 to our Denon receiver and it appears to be good. Picture is perfect, signal strength is the best I've ever had, but no sound no matter what I do. I've tried turning Digital sound off, and that hasn't solved a thing. I've tried going through a bunch of different channels with no luck. My Denon receiver states there is no audio input being received by it from the HR20. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to do next?

Have you gone directly from the box to the tv to see if there is still no sound?

You did reboot the HR, didn't you? Since you are having problems and are probably quite frustrated I won't burden you with my opinion of the HR20-100s.

No, it would be a major PITA to do so (as it is hard to get behind the TV) but if I need to do so, I will. No sound whether I try viewing shows previously recorded before Gustav or live TV. Also, my Xbox 360 which is hooked up the same receiver plays perfectly with normal sound output.

I don't know whether this would help, but you also might try an optical cable between the HR20 and the Denon.

I think you've made a convincing argument for an HDMI problem. You're gonna have to bite the bullet and hook up either RCA sound jacks or, preferably, an optical wire. Might not even be the HDMI cable, might be either HDMI port.

Just climbed back there and hooked up the RCA Sound jacks. Everything works perfectly again. Of course, no HDTV with these old white, yellow, and red cables. I have the protection plan, will DirecTV replace my box due to the HDMI port being bad? Actually, trying another HDMI cable now that is working for my 360 to see if the cable might be the problem.

Is that an HR20-100 by any chance? Oops, that's in the title of the thread, sorry. I don't like the 20-100s. Bad experiences. Never will I have another one.

Good opportunity to get a better HR. Go for it. I really dislike the 100s.

Sorry to have bothered you all with this thread. I'm embarassed to say that it turns out the HDMI cable just went bad. Plugged in the cable from my 360 and the HR20 is working perfectly.
Glad its working for you. Enjoy

I've never had a problem with my 100 and it is apparent now that the cable is the problem. I had called DirecTV (while you guys were also trying to help me) and the CSR couldn't figure out the problem and "case management" is supposed to call me back. I'll tell them I figured out the problem when they call. This box has never given me any problems, so I'd rather not replace it unnecessarily.
