Two days ago I noticed no signal. I shut the receiver down, unplugged and replugged the HDMI and it worked. Same thing happened the next day. Today, it just does not work no matter what. Components do work fine. I tried different cables with different inputs, all with no luck. Dish support was horrible. I told her my troubleshooting and she just didn't understand. I won't get into all the customer service problems, but the last thing she said was, "it's your cable and sending you a new receiver will not fix your cable". This even though I spent an incredible amount of time proving to her it wasn't the cables, which by the way work fine with any other device on any other input.

Has Dish fixed the HDMI problems on the new 622's?

How old is your 622? What Rev? I have not heard if the HDMI port hardware issue has been addressed and What Rev is it in even if it has been fixed.

Does sound like your port is dead. My guess is that it was starting to break and reseting it dealt its final blow.

My first one died within a week. This one I have had since April and have had good luck with it until now. The first one had jittery video and slow downs as well as a fan that was extremely loud. I have noticed that the HDMI looks slightly better and slightly worse on SD when compared to component on my setup. It is frustrating when you get someone who is supposed to be in tech support that doesn't know anything technical or has no common sense. HDMI by nature is a horrible connection.

Call back and get them to switch out units. You are correct that this tech does not know what she is talking about and with your troubleshooting, you have proven it is the box and not your cable. Call back and escalate the problem if necessary as you are entitled to a working unit, especially if you have the additional warranty coverage.

I am on my third unit. First two units, did not work with hdmi right out of the box. Never got a single image with either unit. Got my third replacement receiver, worked on first try and haven't had a problem since july. I also do not touch the unit EVER.

I think a big tip is be as gentle as absolutely possible when plugging in the cable for the first time. Also make sure that the cable is supporting itself and not pulling on the connenctor. IF you do these things and still have problems with the new unit, then dish may be having problems in manufacturing again. Your problem definitely sounds like its on the hardware side.
