I came home last night and there was no component video from my HR24...just a blue screen on my TV. There was sound coming through my receiver. I checked all cables and they were all seated tightly. I tried other inputs on my receiver (roku, blue ray player, computer) and on all of those I got both picture and sound. I switched to other DVR's and I got picture and sound from all of them. So I did a red-button reboot and still no picture and now no sound. I was able to MRV shows from the HR24 to other DVR's including one that was recorded after this problem began. Any ideas on what to try or does it sound like the output has died and I need to replace it?

What happens if you connect the HR24's video OUT directly to your HDTV and bypass your AV Receiver?

I can't do that. My HDTV is an older Sharp that only takes 1080p @60fps so I have to use the receiver to convert the signal from the HR24 to 1080p @60fps for the TV. My other DVR's go through this same path and work fine.

Huh? Your Sharp HDTV should be able to handle the DirecTV video OUT using Component or HDMI just fine. I'm not aware of any HDTV that ONLY accepts [email protected] That's probably the HDTV's "native resolution" of its display, but it can convert other formats connected to its video inputs.

In fact, if you're using Component Video cables, you're not passing 1080p. That's only possible via HDMI.

Well it's true. I have a Sharp Aquos LC45GX6U that has a separate AV box that receives all the inputs from your video sources and the box converts the signal to [email protected] My external box died about 2 years ago and my receiver is replacing the box as far as receiving the various video inputs at different resolutions and converting them to [email protected] which is output from the receiver via an HDMI to DVI cable connected to the Sharp panel. So in this case I have my DVR's set to native connected via component to the receiver which sends a 1080p60fps signal to my panel.

Gotcha. Makes it tough to determine if the problem is the DirecTV Receiver or your AV Receiver.

Actually, I think it is pretty easy to tell it is probably the DVR since other DVR's work through this same path. Before I call to replace the DVR, I'll try hooking it up to another TV that can take the output of the DVR directly into the TV. I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever seen anything like this (no picture and sound but MRV and recordings work).

litzdog911 thanks for trying to help me, but apparently I was beyond help. I've got it fixed now. Unfortunately, I forgot about one thing that was different about this DVR's path than the other ones. I have the output of the HR24 connected to a component and audio switch that also has an XBox360 attached to it. I'm embarrassed to say that the switch had lost power, so the output going into my AV receiver was not outputting anything. Last night when I dug around a little more I noticed the switch was off, turned it back on and everything started working fine again. I'm still not sure why at first the sound was working but no picture since the switch controls both.
