I know Directv now has some movies that are greater than 24 hour ppv. Was going to watch "The Hunger Games" tonight. I have my choice of providers to get it through including D*, Apple TV and Vudu. Apple TV is $4.99 and clearly marked 24 hours. D* is $5.99 but I cannot figure out any way to find out if that is 24 hours or 48 or greater. "Info" doesn't tell me, in fact, as far as I can tell, there is no way to find out.

Anyone with an idea?

Start the d/l and start to watch for a minute (likely avoiding any charge.)?

Or d/l now, start to watch part of it later this evening, and if you need another evening to finish, start early tomorrow evening. (or in a.m., if not working). That way you won't need 48 hours.

The Hunger games is 48 hours. I'll check to see if there's a place that you can see it. Which you should imo.

You can see it if you use the website or mobile app. Obviously if you call in they will tell you on the phone. I think text messaging might as well but can't remember off the top of my head. I just checked the other 2 though.

Thanks Shades. Hadn't thought to look on the website.

I'm almost certain on previous occasions the "window" to watch was shown. All I saw this time is when the recording would be deleted from my hard drive, which was sometime in December.

When you purchase a PPV on DirecTV rant they all day passes? Shouldn't he be able to watch it live and record it for another time without paying more?

I believe when you do a PPV, you can watch it many times until the window expires, either 24 or 48 hours from when you start watching. [You can d/l and not watch for months.]

PPV'ed Hunger Games tonight from the pre-download area. Definitely 48 hours.

I didn't try it on Hunger Games, but I do know that if you start to watch one of those, and then say "no" to the confirm prompt, that it will show up in your List. What I don't know is if that will tell you if it is a 24 hr or 48 hr download at that point, before you've agreed to pay for it.

My wife and kids wanted to see Breaking Dawn when it came out on PPV. I ordered it an PPV and we watched it while it recorded but never watched the recording. It is still on my DVR. Seems like I came out ahead but I have always wondered if they would change me again if we watched the recording.

It will not (at least Hunger Games did not) tell me anything additional about the window when I said "no" to confirm. It is still sitting in my playlist but the window is not stated.

One of the factors to buy for my family is whether it is a 24 or 48 hour window. That info should be available before purchase IMO, especially since Directv was charging $1 more for that movie than some of my other options.

All New releases should be 48 hours. The older library titles and movies added before the 48 hour window was added could be 24.

Bought another PPV last night, "Taken". Again, no information as to whether it was a 24 or 48 hour rental. Had to pull the movie up on the Ipad (as Shades suggested) which had "48 hour rental" in large lettering on the page to order the movie.

Not sure why the hour window isn't being disclosed on the DVR itself before ordering. Be nice if it was, I thought it was at some point.
