not what was ordered

last friday morning i ordered a new hr-21 dvr directly from directv and was told if shipped it would be here on monday. she then checked the status of having a install team to do the installation for me and was told they could be here also on monday with my new equipment. i told her great as this would be easier for me as i would not have to run the new line and all and that would be awesome.

wife was here they arrived a half hour early for the appointment and they were great they ran the second line and had everything done in no time and she was very pleased with that. upon my getting home and seeing the unit i was shocked as i noticed that a hr- 20 dvr was in place rather than my new hr-21 as i had ordered. upon trying to call directv to talk to someone that is where the fun became i was transfered numerous time and had to call back as they would lost my call in transfering me to the appropiate person and was getting angry and angry as time went on. what should i do as i am so pissed now i am seeing red as i do this does any one no who to call to get this resolved

Most would prefer an HR20 over an HR21, they are identical except the HR21 does not have an OTA tuner. When you ordered a HD DVR D* cannot tell you what model you will get, unfortunately they have no way to do so in their system. If it is all set up and working, enjoy.
You can not order any specific model not can a CSR guarantee you one. You get what the local HSP warehouse gets shipped. This has been mentioned countless times.
If you really want a HR21 you'd have to hit up BB or CC.

Eventually, your anger will subside and you will see that what you have is not bad. Unless you just wanted a black receiver, they are functionaly the same box except for; OTA on the HR20 and the addition of a digital coax connection on the back of the HR21.

When talking to the DirecTV CSR's; they just think, in generic terms, of a HD DVR regardless of you saying HR20 or HR21.

As others have stated, you got an HD DVR. The CSRs don't know what will end up at your house, and if one told you that s/he did then they were not telling the truth.

At the end of the day there's really nothing to be upset about - you actually have MORE functionality with the HR20 than you would have had with the HR21. Enjoy your HD DVR, for that is truly what you ordered and that is what you received. :)
The only things you "pick" when requesting an install are type of receiver (Standard SD, DVR SD, Standard HD, DVR HD) and how many of each. Everything else is handled on a need/availability type basis (models, multiswitches, dish, cabling, etc.).
