Now it's happened to me

Two mornings in a row now, I wake up turn the TV on and get........"The Black Screen". AAAggghhhhhh..........................

The only thing that will correct this is a red-button reset.

Until now I've been one of the lucky ones no bad HR20 issues to speak of. Only the "OTA local channel mapping problem". But now it's the "black screen" problem and it's a pain-in-da-a$$. My wife wakes up before I do and she likes watching the news. She is the type of woman that expects to press one button watch TV and drink her coffee. Showing her the red-button reboot ain't gonna cut it with her. Trying to explain the HR20, bugs, updates and this dbstalk forum is like speaking Greek to her.

Bad news is she is thinking that Cox Cable is better then DirecTv. She might just be right, but I don't want the hassle of switching back to cable. But if they don't fix the OTA mapping and this black screen issue. I'm back to Cox Cable.

Will this "black screen problem be corrected anytime soon?

BTW: I now agree with that guy that made the hr20 is a POS post.

This morning I turned on my TV and had nothing but a pixelated mess on the screen. Changing the channel fixed it for me but I have had the issue happen and a RBR was needed to correct it. I think today is weather related for me though as I am not able to see any of my HD locals.

I've seen this symptom on every satellite box I've ever owned at one time or another. The boxes don't appear to gracefully recover from a lost signal all the time. This is not unique to the HR20 by any stretch. I can't tell you the number of times I had to reboot my Sammy 360 (my box prior to the HR20) when we had rain fade. It didn't happen every time, but often enough that I came to understand the problem

I've yet to experience it with my HR20 (and we have had a few rain fade events), but I won't be surprised if and when it does.
I've had the same pixellization problem on start up twice this week. But it happened both times on my HR10-250. Meanwhile, my HR20 has worked without any problems.
The problem on the HR10 happened on two days following heavy overnight rain. It may have been related to the rain fade problem. After a bit of fiddling the problem disappeared.
I had something recording this morning. I went to it from the my playlist menu. It had the black screen. I tried a fast foreward and a rewind and it fixed it. I didn't have to do a reset this time.
