Can I use my old dish with a HR20 and the OTA(when working)For HD until spring as I do not want to mount a AT9 in the cold wather.

You won't get any mpeg4 channels obviously, nor anything on the other satellites. I'm not sure if you need to have both HR20 sat inputs connected or not though..

Depends on what kind of "old dish" - if you have 3-LNB dish that can receive the 110 and 119 sats you can still get the several national HD channels.

Man the one on top is just like my old dual-LNB/single-sat dish I self-installed back in '97. What a blast from the past!

you may or may not be able to receive some national HD, definitely not local HD that is transmitted in mpeg 4.

one thing, just have directv arrange to install the new dish, why are you holding out and do it yourself?

just have a installation person from them handle it.

The best thing about today's D* is, after installing 3 dishes and moving one of them 3 times in years past, I don't have to do it myself!
