Will the Olympic Soccer channel be available on Directv tomorrow?

It will have programming Wed 8/6 from 5am to 5pm and Thurs 8/7 from 5am to 7pm.

Is Directv not the leader in sports programming?

If D* doesn't have the soccer channel up, you can watch the soccer games on UniversalHD.

UHD will be showing both soccer games before the Oymipics start, Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Yes...we know there will be two games televised by UHD...one on Wednesday and one on Thursday.

The question is what about the other 12 games that will be on the Olympic Soccer Channel on Wednesday and Thursday that UHD will not carry?

In another thread, it seemed to say that we will not see the Olympic Soccer Channel on D* until Friday. If that is so, we might not get to see those 12 games.

Well its really annoying when you go to the TV Listing and the header of that window says "Get the most coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games on DirecTV
Tune in Aug 8-24 | Ch 750-756" with a big "R" (record) button "Start Recording event online below" you scroll down and there is noting between 749-1 to 790.
What is up with that?

:new_cussiI think NBC has dropped the ball with the first two days of the Men's and Women's Olympic Soccer tournament's. Just showing only the U. S. games while there are many other games going on those two days. Once again, it just shows that Soccer is not one of the top sports in the U. S.:bang

NBC?

You can see every game this year - You can see them on-line at NBCOlympics.com.

You can also see many via MSNBC and Telefutura -

And, best of all, you can see EVERY game via a DEDICATED soccer channel in HD!!!

No, NBC has not dropped the ball here.

Somebody just needs to knock on the door of the VP of DirectTV Programming and inform them that Olympic Soccer starts in less than 12 hours and to flip on the switch......

No - you can't see Italy or Argentina on UHD among many other of the actually interesting matchups including Brazil (who will have Pato and Ronaldhino in tow) and the Netherlands. They're only on the NBC Olympic Soccer Channel, although you will be able to see the Italy/Honduras and Argentina/Ivory Coast matches in SD on Telemundo.

Not a very bright oversight by DTV.

Exactly. NBC has really stepped up to the plate with it's coverage and hit a home run. Just wish DTV got the memo about the start dates.

Just made a call to see if customer service had any updated info on the soccer channel going live tomorrow - His notes basically replicated what was in the press release, but he was smart enough to figure out somebody had most likely screwed up setting it up.

He was going to escalate it - but it would probably be more helpful if some people in the know with connections here on this board could step in and bring the issue up to people that can do something about it.

Or at the very least provide a technical explanation about what is really going on behind the scenes.

I did the same thing earlier today and got the same thing. He did say that I should get all the Olympic channels aside from (Universal HD) with just the HD Access pack and for Wednesday and Thursday I'll just have to do with what's available on Telemundo and MSNBC. No explanation as to why, but it just isn't going to go online until the 8th....

Oh Well

It's even worse according to the press release.....

"As Basketball, Soccer, Mandarin, and Korean channels do not begin until 8/9, these channels will remain unmapped on Aug 8, 2008"

So the NBC Olympic Soccer Channel shows live coverage right now as it is 5:00 a.m. in the ETZ. yet D* has nada? Wow, more sizzle and less steak from D*.
WHAT THE F$#%@!?

So were going to miss 3 full days of coverage instead of 2? This is just getting stupid. Someone at DTV needs to get this fixed pronto. As we speak the Brazil/Germany womans' game is going on and Thursday, Friday and Saturday will have TONS of great mens matches....

Doesn't start till the 9th? What idiot in research put that press release together? I hope their call centers are bombarded...

Thanks

Watching now! Actually the quality of the video is quite outstanding and it's in 16:9. It's no replacement for HD on my bigscreen but unfortunately we're reduced to this while DishNet customers are watching right now on channel 98.....:(
