What are you looking for? These 7 channels plus NBC itself, and all the other channels that are part of the NBC Group... how many channels are needed?Hdhead said:On the D* website it says "the most olympic coverage channels 750 - 756". I don't know that is why I asked.LarryFlowers said:What are you looking for? These 7 channels plus NBC itself, and all the other channels that are part of the NBC Group... how many channels are needed?
If you guys are getting the same package that NBC worked with Verizon, I believe all those channels WILL be in HD. That's where Verizon placed all of these channels - in the HD section. The soccer and basketball channels are both listed in the HD section. And Verizon rolled out CNBC HD and USA HD to all the markets (like mine) that haven't been transitioned yet to get all those new HD channels (those channels are included in the national roll-out of all these new HD channels, but some markets have yet to be transitioned, and still they added those channels to those markets just for the olympics coverage). All this was done as per the agreement with NBC. Whether all the broadcasts will be HD... well, that's another question.GutBomb said:I wouldn't assume these are going to be HD.
I could've sworn I read an NBC press release indicating that all of the broadcasts would be available in HD. I noted it because I found that incredibly difficult to believe. I'll try to dig it out.jpl said:Whether all the broadcasts will be HD... well, that's another question.
I don't remember seeing that, but you may be right. I'd have a hard time believing that too. Plus, aren't they using MSNBC to carry some of the olympics coverage? That's not currently in HD.Maverickster said:I could've sworn I read an NBC press release indicating that all of the broadcasts would be available in HD. I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that they will simulcast the MSNBC stuff on Universal HD.jpl said:Plus, aren't they using MSNBC to carry some of the olympics coverage? That's not currently in HD.
From the huge pdf showing NBC's Olympic schedule "Universal HD will provide 24 hours of simulcasts and repeats of Olympic events broadcast on both MSNBC and CNBC"jpl said:I don't remember seeing that, but you may be right. I don't know if all the basketball or soccer programming is going to be in HD, but from what I understand the channels that fios activated for those sports are definitely HD channels.glorman said:From the huge pdf showing NBC's Olympic schedule "Universal HD will provide 24 hours of simulcasts and repeats of Olympic events broadcast on both MSNBC and CNBC"
FWIW, it doesn't mention anything about HD for the basketball or Soccer channels
