If you sign up for a premium, you won't be allowed to turn it off for 30 days, IIRC. If you do, I think they hit you with a $10 charge. Someone else can clarify.
Your correct. You used to be able to do as the OP wanted to but that policy changed awhile back.MattWarner said:If you sign up for a premium, you won't be allowed to turn it off for 30 days, IIRC. If you do, I think they hit you with a $10 charge. Someone else can clarify.
I believe this is correct. However, a couple of years ago, Directv did allow you to sign up for one day and only charged you for that day. I guess too many people took advantage of that "loophole" and now it's gone.MattWarner said:If you sign up for a premium, you won't be allowed to turn it off for 30 days, IIRC. I believe if you try and cancel via the web-site within that 30 day window, you will be prompted with a message stating you need to call 'Customer Service' in order to complete the request.rb5505 said:on the directv website, can i turn on hbo for a day, then cancel it on line? if so, would i be charged for 1/30 of a month? i wasn't sure if the turn on & off is instantaneous, or if there is a day or two lag time.
thanks.
I think it also had to do something with the Premiums being scammed out of rebates and gift cards. I recall reading once where someone would sign up the day before the billing cycle closed and drop the service a day or two later. When the bill came, they would send in the bill showing the newly added premium channel and rebate request and low and behold get themselves a check for x amount while paying out less than a $1.00..MD_Tivo said:I believe this is correct.
