Ongoing ESPN issues

After watching the ESPY's on ESPN for two and a half hours tonight, I'm reminded how annoying these issues really are. There was either video stuttering, audio drop-outs, or green pixelation every 10-15 minutes. I've had DirecTV for over a year and a half, and it's been like this the entire time. How long before this gets fixed? This isn't a no-name network that nobody watches. And to think... they were even a sponsor of the show.

I watch a lot of ESPN HD on D* and I've never seen any of this.

Hmm... That's strange... There's been many threads on this in the past...

Did you watch the ESPY's tonight?

Never had any issues either
I watched the ESPYs last night until about 11pm in HD. Didn't notice any issues.

No problem with those symptoms here. Sounds like a possible out of alignment of your dish or maybe an LNB going bad. You don't have any trees in front of your dish do you?
Like I said in my OP... I've had issues with ESPN HD since I've had DirecTV... and every time I've brought it up here before, people were seeing the same issues... http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=120830

I have excellent signal strengths and have no issues with any other channels... I was also on the phone with a friend last night that was seeing the issues at the same time I was... Not sure how you guys weren't seeing it...

Is it something that you only see in studio originated programs (Sports center type programs), or do you see it all the time (Taped shows like fishing, racing or poker shows)?

The reason I ask it is because I get audio drop outs on a local OTA channel on local produced shows only but not during other programs.
I have been having problems off and on for the past week or so with various HD channels, including ESPN and ESPNNews. I called into DirecTV last week to complain about it and they said that there are system-wide problems for some customers receiving pixelated or gray screens on the HD versions of channels and they are looking into it. I have also seen it on Disney HD and some of the HD feeds in the MLB Extra Innings package.

The SD versions of these channels have been fine.

Ya know, that's a good question... I will have to pay more attention to that... But I think it's normally during studio programs and live stuff (the ESPY's wasn't live though)... Come to think of it, I did watch WSOP late last night and didn't notice any issues...
Since I was going to be out when they started...I recorded ESPN HD for the ESPY's last night, and then proceeded to watch it about 45 minutes behind the live broadcast....I saw one 1/2 second signal dropout about 30 minutes into the program, and another 1/2 second drop about 1 1/2 hours into the show. They were both very brief and hardly noticable, except to someone like me who takes note of this kinda stuff.

I have seen those same symptoms spaced apart periodically on ESPN before (but not other channels).

Anyway...no other problems.
Whenever I watch ESPN, I also see an occasional black screen (video drops out for approx. 1 sec.). We were reporting this last fall and it seems to come and go. No idea if its an ESPN, D*, or IRD issue. Would be nice if it were addressed.
I saw one or 2 brief green block breakups, but that is it.

Kind of nice they way they did not have the correct ending time in the guide. Luckily we caught up to live at about 11:06 and was able to rewind what we missed.
The fact that there is an ESPY awards for them to celebrate themselves, and their ESPY awards cause the Sunday Night Baseball game to be pushed earlier causing the west coast starts on MLB EI to be unavailable to everyone is the most annoying thing to me.

Same here. Seems like it started doing it again a month or so ago. I had this same issue a while back, but seemed like it went away, now it is back. ESPN is the only channel I notice it on (both 73 & 206).

Who is celebrating themselves? The media celebrating sports? Or the fans who vote to award athletes, which is run by ESPN? The Oscar's is more self-awarding than the ESPYs.

Yeah I get that too. It seems totally random. I watched parts of the Sox/Angels game last night and didn't notice it.
