OpenTV completed its purchase of Wink Communications from Liberty Broadband Interactive for about $101 million in cash, representing the actual cost of Liberty's recently completed acquisition of Wink.

The combined company will have a global footprint of more than 35 million households and will do business with more than 60 cable and satellite operators in more than 50 countries worldwide, OpenTV said.

Tim Travaille, executive vice president of finance and business development at Wink, was appointed interim chief operating officer of OpenTV. Travaille joined Wink in 1997 after serving as vice president and chief information officer for AT&T Wireless. Marty Leamy will be stepping down from his position as president and chief operating officer of OpenTV.

James Ackerman will remain chief executive officer at OpenTV. Maggie Wilderotter, formerly president and chief executive officer of Wink, will continue working with OpenTV as a consultant.
