When ordering an additional HD-DVR how long does it normally take to get? Does the process happen faster if u order online or over the phone?

I'd assume I'd get a DVR model newer than the hr20-100 eh?

You'd probably have better results if you call in.

Don't assume anything. There are no guarantees as to what you'll get.

Well crap I just tried to order one on the phone and the guy told me they couldnt ship it to me they wuld have to have it professionally installed! Ugh. I told him i didnt need professional installation but he wuldnt budge.

Online u can order it and remove professional installation. So I guess i should just do it online

Most likely because their system tells the CSR your setup isn't SWM and that's all they do now. It's not that he wouldn't budge, he can't get around that in the system.

I personally just bought one online. I bought for self install and received it in two days. Don't know why you'd use the phone if you don't have to. Two day FedEx is, I believe, standard D* shipping. Caveats: make sure you leave a comment/instruction if you need B-Band converters or remotes. They don't automatically ship with the receiver. Though they'll ship them in two days. WRT the CSR knowing that your system isn't SWM -- it'd be about the only thing they know. But in reality their system probably just tells them you're not eligible.

??? Solid signal costs are the same as DTV unless its a modified unit...best of my knowledge anyways
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I paid $99. I haven't seen a D* HDDVR on Solid signal for less than $199, but I will admit that I don't hang out there. If you want to know exactly what you get, use them, but if you want a $99 deal I think you're stuck with D* direct.

right. with DirecTV you might qualify to get discounts. if DirecTV were to quote you the full list price, I would order from solidsignal and choose the model you want, but if you get a discounted price from DirecTV, understand that you will get what ever model they have on top of the stock

no.... solid signal has them also....if it was more expensive than DTV then you were eligible for a discount from them ...but not guaranteed a particular model

That's a HR21-PRO, which would be an owned receiver. And while the HR21 came standard with a 320GB HDD, the HR21-PRO might have had a 500GB HDD. The HR21-PRO was made for with a rack installation in mind.

Actually getting it installed can be a good thing, he won't have any HR20s on his truck and will likely have only HR24s. If he brings in an older model you can ask him for an HR24 and tip him if he does.On my last 2 service calls they only had HR24s on the truck.

Yesterday I received an email from D* which said loyal customer and please call us for an upgrade. They offered me a HD DVR at no charge. He said it will be brand new 2012 model so I will see what actually arrives. It was some sales and marketing department and not the regular customer service dept. Since I don't need another outlet it will replace my older HR20 I have had for 6 years.
