I called retention and mentioned that because the OTA isn't working (even though manuel says that it does), that I have had to continue paying my cable company for my local HD stations. My HD locals from D* also have not yet been activated- it should happen sometime this fall.

The CSR agreed to give me four additional months of free HD from D* for a total of my first eight months free.

I believe they should give everyone free programming because of the delay in the OTA.

Anyone else tried to get credits for this???

To be fair... what does the box and the DirecTV Website say about OTA.

If someone didn't "tamper" with your box... it should have a sticker on it clearly stating OTA wasn't comming till late 2006.

That is what the Official DirecTV website says about OTA as well.

Glad you got the credits though...

You know, I'm not all that interested in trying to squeeze yet another deal out of D*. Let them make their money. They're providing me with service.

I bought a Dodge Charger and it didn't come with a DirecTV receiver, so I called DirecTV and they credited me the cost of the car.
I gotta sat I am on this guys side, why would a company issue a product that does not have a key feature or from what I have heard and read full of bugs. D* needs to be held accountable for not being able to to provide what it's competitors can. For failing to make nice with Tivo the have to come up with a product that meets a comptitive edge. Sounds like so far they have failed. They have to pay extra to keep customers.

They just like you can not work for free, so pay more now or more latter! All of us will pay more. Get something free from Ford or Chev lately? I hear they arent making a profet and prices have went from 1200 to 20,000 in the last 60 years because they gave to many features away.

If D* did not believe that all these "freebies" pay off, we would not be getting them.

When my contract runs out, I'll remember everything D* has done for me. They'll probably do even more to keep me at that time.

If I continue at my same rate, in two years I will have sent D* over $3000, as compared to about $240 per year when I was with E*, which never gave me anything, really.

Don't you think its worth something to keep good customers?

Actually directv gives the options for CSRs to provide customers with retention offers. They are not "freebies". It's the CSRs that treat them as freebies... "oh gee the last rep you talked to didn't say excuse me when he sneezed on the phone? well here.... we'll give you $20 off the next 6 months". I don't think I'll ever understand why certain customers require the acknowledgment that they're a loyal customer. Why can't a customer just be loyal to be loyal?
