So i've got this OTA antenna (it's cheap dish mount) and if I run it directly into the house and diplex it into a line (after the multiswitch) and diplex it back out at the receiver, it works. Here's the kicker - if I ground the antenna (run the cable through the grounding block for the other 4 sateliite cables) out near the dish I get nothing at all. Obviously it has to be grounded. I've tried two antennas out there, same result. Is there something I am missing? Does the diplexer need to be grounded or something? Ungrounded it works beautifully.
The multiswitches i'm using are WB68's, but those are not the problem, because even if I disconnect that line from the multiswitch completely (antenna -> grounding block -> diplexer w/out sat -> line) it dosen't work. If I bypass the grounding block it works.
One last note - I actually have two grounding blocks, but this shouldn't matter - there is a 4 port and a 1one port butted up to each other and connected by about a 1" run of 12AWG copper wire. Yeah yeah I know code probably says one block only, but technically this shouldn't cause any problems - it's essentially one block.
