What happens when you plug in your cable TV line into the OTA input? Does it recognize the SD stations? Steven

Nope, ATSC (digital OTA) signals only. Also, the station must have guide data available in the sat stream or it will not work.

Most all Cable TV systems use a digital format called "QAM" for their digital stations, and this format is not compatible with the over-the-air digital "ATSC" tuners used by DirecTV DVRs. You'll need an over-the-air antenna to receive anything with the ATSC tuners.
