OTA HD on Vip722

I have looked but am not sure of what I have found so am hoping that one of you who knows for sure could answer my question.
If I connect a roof top, OTA, antenna to the 722, can I receive local channels in HD if they are transmitted in HD? I understand that I will not get the program guides, but am just curious if I would receive the HD broadcast. That way I could get rid of my VERY slow Samsung HD tuner.

Thanks,
Lon

Lon,

Yes, you can receive and display any available OTA ATSC signal - including HD.

Yes, although you will have to subscribe to "locals" through Dish if you want the info to show up in the program guide. Otherwise, it will show the channels, but it will only show "digital service" for the programs.
Yes.. If you sub to locals you would get guide information if available for your area (Area does not have to have Dish HD to get the guide information). Also I am assuming you are subscribed to some dish package.
Thanks for the replies. Yes I am currently a Dish customer, but want to upgrade to HD service.
My father-in-law just changed from Dish to Direct, so I went over to have a look last night. Picture looked quite good, but what I was really interedted in was the performance of his tuner. As I expected from playing with a Direct PVR that my daughter had, it felt somewhat sluggish. And I much prefer the Dish remote although I know some of that is just getting used to it. Bottom line though is that I have been happy with Dish and would like to stay with them.
I am going to call this afternoon and see what they can do for me. I am no longer in contract so I should be good to go. I hope they present a fairly good deal.
As I said I currently use a Samsung HD receiver to get my local channels, but it is slow in tuning and I want to get rid of it. I would like to get a 722 for my main HDTV and a 625 for my tv in the other room. I currently use a 625 and have been happy with it.

Thanks again,
Lon
