OTA Install ... No HD Locals in #50 DMA

My locals in Louisville, KY arent offered in HD yet ... DMA #50 and Im not on the list to get it in 2006 from what I have seen. Im finding out now after doing the research an antenna setup is going to run me an easy $100 ... this in addition to the $300 i had to fork over for the HR20 and the fact my bill is more than it was with HD Cable (and I dont have HBO or On Demand)!

So do I suck it up and go for the attic installed antenna, or hold my breath until sometime next year? Im sure it matters how much I really want the local HD channels ...

Someone just give me a pat on the back and tell me its going to be OK. That the two new sats bringing these mystical 150 new HD channels in 07 are going to piss all of my cable friends off! This was not a cheap and easy conversion to D* and now I have a 2yr contract staring me in the face. :bang

I guess you don't know that the ATSC tuners in the HR20 aren't active yet, hope you have a tuner in your TV...

Why did you switch to Directv anyway if you have HD cable available and it's cheaper? I believe Directv has a 30 day cancellation policy, might want to look into that...

Yes Ive been watching the threads about the tuners being enabled sometime in the next few weeks so I've been waiting for that to happen, but was shocked at the price to get that, and even more shocked that my DMA has been left out so far. Louisville is the highest one with a 'Not Yet Available' label ... not even 'Coming Soon'!

The main reason I switched was because of the extra HD channels (CSR told me local HD would be available by November in my area), the RSNs and International Sports ... and the rebates they threw at me ($400 worth which I will use up on the OTA and HR20). Im normally pretty good at doing the research and reading all of the fine print, but its been past 30 days.
