I dont get it. Why all the concern over the OTA tuners. You all already have HD locals. What are the OTA locals going to really do for you. I just dont get it. Lets just see if DTV can make the DVR work 100% as is before adding on new features that are meaningless.

I care! I don't have all of the local HD channels through the satellite that I can get OTA. Also, I don't get all of the sub-channels through the satellite.

Dude - I don't have HD locals and likely won't for a long time. I'm in a small market. OTA recording is critical for me.

The whole point of HD is to get a better quality picture and sound, right? OTA HD delivers a better quality picture (and sometimes sound, delay issues, etc) than the MPEG4 HD that D* is delivering.

In addition, there are subchannels that D* doesn't carry. On top of that, OTA doesn't go out as often as D* (especially the Ka signals) during heavy rains / snows / etc.

What a shortsighted post. Many people who have the HR20 can't get their HD locals in MPEG4 yet, and some can't get all their HD locals from D*, so to them it is a VERY big deal. You must be a Flyers fan to have posted such an ignorant comment.

It all depends on your location. I'm 57.5 miles (and 4 valleys) from the nearest transmitters (Reno), so OTA is irrelevant to me. Others live in cities and that's all they want. No need to mock people for their priorities in the HR20, just because we all want different features.

You have GOT to be kidding!

I do not get PBS in HD! AND... with OTA channels.. PBS in our market has at least 4 defferent channels above the main one. Ch2, Ch2-1, Ch2-2, Ch2-3, Ch2-4... some HD only!

We have hashed this so many times over the last month... I am ending this thread.

Bottom line... OTA is a very important feature to a significant user base.
OTA is not just about HD...

Please do a search on OTA, to find some of the countless number of threads we have hashed this over in over the last few weeks.
