Time for D* to step it up now. Of course that's probably a trade off in that they'll never see the Big 10 network again lol

That is in the Dish forum, not the Directv forum. This is real news to Directv customers as well and presents an interesting take on all of us Directv customers. Will Directv come to the table? I certainly hope so.

Now I am not completely on board with Dish's setup Pac 12 National on satellite, but regionals only via computer stream with what looks like additional access on game day for overflow. But WHY wouldn't Directv take this same deal? In fact, it looks like a great deal for satellite...!? They don't clog up with 7 channels, just 1 with some alternates?

What is Directv and its' CEO Mike White thinking on this one? I mean, is he really as clueless as they say he is?

Well, the PAC-12 finally got its national distribution which is what they needed. I'm hoping this is a catalyst for DIRECTV to get a deal done as well. Now there are actually options for rural customers who have no access to cable.

I'm wondering if those channels will be offered in HD on Dish. If not I really wouldn't be interested.
Is great news hopefully now a deal is coming very soon like today on Directv.

What is particularly disturbing for me (being a Directv advocate) is the exclusivity tone in the Pac-12 announcement. They announced a multi-year agreement making DISH the only satellite provider. Does that mean the only YET? Or the only for multiple years? Has Larry Scott sold out to the highest bidder?

Is Directv now out of the picture, or am I reading too much into it?

This appears really good for Pac-12 and Dish... but really really bad for a Directv lover like me, who also wants to watch every possible Duck game available on my own TV. I guess I'll have to take a closer look at Dish now...

Only satellite provider now is how I read it.
Below who gets it: If you live outside the 6 states with Pac12 schools you have to get the sports package.
"Pac-12 Networks is available to all DISH customers as a free preview for a limited time. It is included in America’s Top 120+ package and above for customers in Pac-12 territory (which includes the six states with Pac-12 schools) and available nationwide in the Multi-Sport Pack for $9 per month."

Not good news for us Directv fans and certainly not good news for PAC 12 fans on the D*, which will signal armageddon for some of you...
Ohh well still sticking with the D, but Dish scored a major coup with this one..

I wonder what was the holdup?
How could the D let them score exclusivity?
How much is Dish paying P12 for this?
Is the D holding out for the pending SEC Network?
Or is securing the upcoming RSNs more important to D* right now?

Questions, questions.....

The exclusive part is for sign space in PAC-12 stadiums. "Only" refers to "as of now."

Always cracks me up when Dish has advertising in a sports space. Even though they have PAC 12 and DirecTV does not yet, they are way behind overall in sports. Like their ads on MLB on XM. Where is the MLB package on Dish? Very odd company. Inconsistent. Sign up PAC 12 and drop BTN the same day.

That's probably how/why they did it this quick. Makes me think BTN will never return to E* so D* is now the "exclusive satellite provider"

I was shocked when I saw the news this morning. I think DirecTV thought they would force The Pac12 to meet their demands, but instead The Pac12 moved on to someone else. What else this shows is even though everyone said it was about all 7 channels, it wasn't Dish as I read it has the Nat'l channel. My guess DirecTV had a deal and at the last moment they changed what they wanted and Pac12 packed up and went to Dish with the same offer. DirecTV really blew this one, they have opened the door for Dish and cable companies to start taking both home and business customers. I know that now that this deal is done and a deal with DirecTV is all but dead, I will be making a switch.

Wow, just wow, I am in shock Dish got a sports channel before D* did. Very disapointing. But maybe this will open the door for D* to get the same deal for them as well. But maybe D* can do one better, carry the national at first and then carry all 7 in the future.

THey won't be exclusive as soon as Directv adds. The only thing they received that is exclusive is advertising inside Pac 12 stadiums.

From Dish press release it states Dish is exclusive Pac 12 Network Satellite carrier. I sure hope this isn't true.

I have a dish network satellite that came with the house when I bought it. I hadn't figured out what I was going to do about it, but this gives me an idea of what to do at this point.
