Padding Issue

958 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  richbogrow
I'm having an issue with padding a show 1-minute before it starts. If the show starts at 8 pm, for example, and I try to pad it 1-minute before, the recording starts at 8pm. If I use a 2-minute pad, the recording will start like it's supposed to at 7:58pm.

Any ideas?

Was there another show recorded just before the one with the 1 minute pad? If you have multiple timers set to record back to back programs on the same channel, the 622 ignores the pad so that it can use the same tuner for both recordings. Otherwise it would have to use one tuner for the first show and the other tuner for the second show because of the time overlap.
No, it was the only show I was going to record.

The weird thing is that I thought it did pad the 1 min properly when I first got the VIP622, and now it doesn't seem to. It almost seems like a software glitch.
I have never seen the padding work correctly since I got the 622 in April. I just don't use it anymore because it has always ignored the pads when I've tried to use them.
I'll have to keep an eye out for this. Padding has always seemed to work fine for me. The caveats being.

1) Padding is skipped if you have back to back timers on the same tuner.
2) Padding for sporting events is automatically longer at the end, if I'm not mistaken.
I believe "padding" is adding time to a program that is currently being recorded, but how exactly does one do this? I did a search and didn't find a good answer.
You set it when you setup a new recording. Also, when you do this you have the option to have the new settings be the new default.
So when I set up a program to be recorded, it asks me if I want to add time to the end of the scheduled program? I've not noticed this.. I am not at home now, so I can't see what you are referring to.. I'll have to check it out.

It is done automatically when you set a timer. If you set a timer and go to options (or something similar) you can change the before and after values, and set them as default.
