How do you get video (live Directv programming) playing but muted, while hearing Pandora audio?

I have been told by Directv representatives you can do this, but each time I leave the pandora app it asks me if I want to close Pandora. If I choose NO, it keeps my on the ap screen. If I exit, I get the same choices.

You must have an HR34. Right now on the HR34 it's not working correctly.

I thought it worked on all but the HR20's? Meaning 21-24's as well.

Works on my HR22s just fine, I usually just push 'back' and it asks if i want to continue playing music while watching tv.

I second that it's not working right now on the HR34. Which is a bummer.

What DVR have you?

Not all support that, and frankly, I am surprised that any of them do. But that's just me; if I wanted to play Pandora, I'd do so on my laptop, iPad or iPhone.

It works fine on my HR24-500.

To use it, don't leave the pandora app. Just use your remote to navigate to what you want to do. For example if you are using pandora and want to see what is in the guide, just hit 'guide' on the remote.

You will get a pop-up asking if you would like to listen to pandora while watching TV (or something like that), select the affirmative, and you are good to go.

Thanks for the useful tip. Is there a way to change to the TV audio later? For example, if you are listening to pandora and watching football, can you quickly swap the audio back to the game, or do you need to go back to the pandora app and stop it manually?

That function has alway worked on my HR24-200

While watching TV, press Info, and you have full control of the Pandora audio stream. If you stop Pandora, you have to go back to the app to start it up, but sometimes the left arrow can get you there quickly.
