Parental Controls and Blocked Titles

Sorry if this has been covered but I did a search and couldn't find anything.

What's the right way to use parental controls?

On my DirecTivo I blocked anything above PG-13/TV-14. When I selected a show it would force me to unlock and then it would stay unlocked until I went into standby.

On the HR20, it also blocks titles. This is a nice feature and I'm glad they added it, but I'm stumped at what the correct way to use this is. If I select a blocked title I think it should show me the unlock screen but it just goes ahead and shows me the details which say "blocked title". The only way I can find to see the title is to navigate to the settings page and "unlock for 4 hours". Maybe I'm nit picking but this is way too cumbersome. I thought maybe there is an easy step I'm missing during navigation.

thanks,

steve

You will need to unlock to see the blocked titles. And just to let you know, it only blocks titles of TV-MA stuff. So even if you have R movies blocked, it will still show the title.
Ok, thanks, I think this is a usability bug:

When parental controls blocks a title, if I select a blocked title in the guide that hasn't started yet it should ask me to unlock. Currently it just shows me the screen where i get the option to record with the title being "blocked title" and no info. Who would record something when they don't know what it is :).

Also, the default radio button on the unlock screen should be "unlock for 4 hours" rather than permanently unlock because the latter forgets your password and needs to be manually relocked.

Yeah, I think I like your idea, but right now, if I want to search around the guide, I will just unlock the unit so I can see everyone. If you did it on a case by case basis, it would be a pain to have to unlock more than a couple.

As for unlocking it, I always just use the menu button and the Parental Controls are usually the last listing and then I just select the unlock for 4 hours choice.

Personally, I would like to see an option in Parental Controls that let's you choose to block titles or not. It's not usually the title that's the problem but the actual content. I do find it cumbersome to see "Blocked Title". Another annoying thing is that if you manually record a show that says blocked title, even if you unblock, the playlist still shows "Blocked Title"
Parental Controls are not working as expected - I'll unlock a show, and if I rewind to the beginning of the show just seconds later, it'll prompt to unlock again! Shouldn't it unlock for 4 hours?
